Looking at the photos, I am wondering if your description of "the metal that surrounds the magnets" is actually the part called the Brake Drum. In the photos, it looks like the inside surface of the brake drum was dragging on, and scoring, the surface of the magnet.

Interesting.
Clearly a design flaw allowing no spacing between the brake drum and the magnet.
This would explain why routine part replacement would not solve it.

Great pics, and I can definitely see how that would make the noise I am hearing. What did the inside of the brake drum look like? Did you get new drums as part of the replacement package? I will see if I can get pics when they work on mine.

Mike

Neither Don nor I was outside when the repairguy was doing his thing. The pic you see up there is what he wound up putting into a box to ship back to Dexter.

I am also having brake issues on my 2010 199 sport. Does anyone know if Dexter uses the same axles and brake setups on all Jayco campers?

Tony, As I understand it, this issue mainly affects brakes from certain "lots" on the 2010's.
