New 2014 Jayco 264BH & question
New to the forum and after a lot of searching we found our 1st travel trailer a Jayco 264BH which was picked up from the dealer in Ocala, FL after getting a weight distribution hitch and sway control installed. We contemplated the 26BH but felt the 264BH was a better value for us on a 1st travel trailer. Not a bad ride back down to Tampa on the highway, have not had a chance to actually use the trailer yet but wife is planning the 1st trip.
What if any after purchase changes / modifications have you done to your Jayco?
Regards
Paul

Hello and welcome to the forums! To our 26BH I've added a vent cover over the bathroom vent, insect screens for most of the outside covers/vents, an EMS protector, replaced the incandescent bulbs with LEDs and most recently I added wire shelves to the wardrobe cabinets.

Forgot to mention we bought a cheapie foam mattress topper from Wal Mart as we found the stock mattress a bit too firm. There are also some smaller items we bought like a good sewer hose (to replace the cheap one the dealer gave us), a water filter and some dogbone style power adapters...we have camped at sites where the 30A outlet was pretty worn and having a 50A to 30A adapter came in handy. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask! The 264BH and 26BH are pretty very popular models and I'm sure you will enjoy yours!

heh, I don't own a 264BH or 26BH, (mine is 28BHBE), but I have almost the exact same list of first mods as Iraqvet. Only thing I lack is wire shelving in the wardrobes...

X2 with iraqvet
We went with a 3" mattress topper though. X-chocks, counter extender, outside bug lights that clamp on the awning.

Enjoy your new trailer! We've done the same mods others have mentioned, and I also opened up the blocked off areas above the microwave and next to the stereo for additional storage. I didn't put doors over the openings, I just use spring tension bars to hold stuff in the space. I also added battery operated lights in all of the "basement" areas, and blocked off the "basement" area under the bed from the rest of the area.

Welcome from Brandon FL
We went with the Swift for the added value/reduced cost
We also added mattress pads to the bunks and memory foam to our bed
And closed off the pass thru from the under bed storage
Built X chocks
Added Maxx Air vent cover--IMO a must
3M adhesive hooks
Surge protector for the outdoor fridge

I was curious about that space over the microwave. I was thinking I might take that panel out of mine. I don't really need the storage, but it's annoying for me to have wasted space...

I like the idea of using the wasted space. I'll have to check this out.

Welcome!
Just a question from another first timer on here.....Why did you block the under bed storage area from the pass through and how?
Love this site as I'm learning so much.
I pick up my trailer on April 28th and I have no mods yet but I will be getting the needed one's asap....now I have to find out what they are and where to get them.

Hello to all. This is my first post. I just got a 264BH 5 weeks ago and have used it over 2 weekends so far and we love it. We bought it because we can tow it with our 2013 V6 Durango and it will sleep 10 people!!!! It pulls it just fine. First trip at a campground and second boondocking in the mountains. This is not our first trailer but is out first Jayco and it's been a few years without one. We are planning trips every 2 weeks and are even going to tailgate at monster trucks this year. We need to get out. Lol. We are in Las Vegas and the weather has been incredible. It's been in the high 70's for a couple weeks now. We will go to Utah as soon as it thaws but for now we stay close where it is warmer.
Many mods so far. I can't seem to leave anything alone. Here is my list.
2-stabilizers on each scissor jack. This eliminates 95% of the rocking. A must have IMO this was the first mod the day it came home!!!!!!!
Tornado black tank jet. This is a must if you want a clean tank.
Wrapped loom around the wires below the trailer- the factory left all the wires exposed
Added a propane line and quick disconnect for the camp chef( don't leave home without it)
Max air vent cover
All LED light bulbs everywhere
2-6 volt batteries - Costco 205 amp hours
Inside fridge fan with switch and wire thru drain
Propane tank gauges
Carpeted step covers
Metal door hold open - plastic always breaks.
Reinforced back of front dinette seat with metal braces and screws - pulled apart on first trip
Countertop extension - always need more counter space
Light in front pass thru - makes setting up in the dark much easier
Built wall separating front pass thru and under bed storage
Rear bumper rack - receiver hitch on bumper and aluminum rack
Rear bumper flag pole holder - custom modified. Always need the American flag flying!!!
Reese dual cam hitch set up with 1,200lb bars and friction sway
Storage spot for hitch bars in front pass thru
Lockable BAL where x chocks
Wheel covers
3" thick mattress pad - soooo much nicer
22" TV and wall mount above dinette and DVD player
Kipor 3500 generator
3M hooks. Many of them
Key hooks by door
Sealed floor around bathroom with clear silicone. Always gets wet with the kids.
New hitch power jack
Clear sewer hose adaptor.
Water filter
New shower head with shut off
Mods still left to do:
2000watt pure sine inverter and rewire batteries with larger wire. Trying to figure out where to put it still - any ideas? Will be here this week.
Propane tank covers
Solar back of fridge fan
Solar panels and controller
Move 12volt outlets on the interior
12 volt TV DVD combo
Water heater electric lightening rod heater
New toilet
Possibly another roof vent in bedroom
LED under awning strip lights
Another pair of batteries
New tank level sensors in percent full
Digital volt meter
New security locks on compartments and entry door that match with same key!
Larger fan in bathroom
Bring hammock to put between trees
Wow writing this all out seems like a lot. I guess I have been busy.
This seems to be a great forum. I have gotten some great ideas. Thank you for all of the ideas.
As I said I just can't leave things alone. LOL!!

While we're waiting for the snow and ice to leave NE Arkansas, my wife and I decided to change the lower part of the entertainment center on our new 2014 White Hawk and add an electric fireplace.....we had chosen a floor plan with the bunk house to accommodate grandkids and it was not one with the fireplace...all went well....should chase the chill away on some cool nights.

Ok a newbie question. I pick mine up my 264bh soon and making a list of items to buy when I pick it up. So far I have dog bones, Y water valve, water pressure regulator, chemicals sewer hose, clear flush out hose connector and various other items, but what is the importance of the air vent cover and I assume the maxx air is a popular brand.
