New brake controller

Just installed my new Tekonsha Prodigy P3 brake controller. Can't wait to use it as it will be our first outing with this combo pulling our new Jay Flight 33bhts!

You will love it. We went from a cheap Reese controller to this P3.....what a difference! Worth the extra money.

What do you get with these fancy ones to make it worth it. I have a propotional but basic one now. What would I gain?

What brand/model do you have? Why do you consider the P3 "fancy"? I have the P2 and have had it for 9 years. Its an excellent controller.

I think the only difference between p2 and p3 is that the p3 can be used for hydraulic and electric brakes, p2 is only for electric. Someone correct me if I am wrong. The big difference I believe between the p2 or p3 is that it adjusted based on your speed and inertia I believe. It is just much smoother than our old Reese was and the digital setting is way easier than the sliding lever

Don't recall brand. It's not a prodigy. But a basic proportional inertia based one.

I have a gain and the slide engage.

With the prodigys and other nice ones you have more variables to mess with etc

What do you do with those? Would it be worthwhile to upgrade if only pulling the same trailer everytime?

There is a boost feature which I used when I traveled through mountains. Other than that there is nothing special about the setup or any "variables" to deal with. Its very easy to install and setup. Just a nice read out telling you if its connected and what voltage is being applied. I wouldn't change yours out just for the sake of changing, but if yours ever dies, look at the Prodigy.

I think the Prodigy also allows more of an angle mount than some basic cheap ones. Thats great if you don't have a good level spot to mount it..
