New J Flight 29 RKS Problem

Hi, we just picked up our new 2017 Jay Flight 29RKS. And we are over the top with excitement. But we just discovered that when we turn on all of the overhead lights, their are two (on the left of the door over the recliners mounted below the overhead cabinet) that won't work. After calling the dealer, they seem to think that either a wire has come apart or it was never connected. Either way, I have no idea why they didn't find this when they were getting the unit ready for us. All this being said, my dealer is a days drive away. I guess my question is that, has anyone else ever had this problem? And if the wires are inside the base of the cabinet, how would one even begin to trouble shoot it. This in no way not keep us from enjoying our new toy, but when something is brand new, it is disappointing. And to take it all the way back to our dealer is a three day trip at least.

Any and all help is most appreciated and so look forward to reading the forum, and can't wait to hit the road.

Thanks

Don't have that model, but on mine there are lights that require a light switch on the wall by the thermostat to be on, and push buttons on the lights themselves to be on. Maybe you have another switch somewhere?

I have the 2016 version of that model. We love it. I would start by removing the lights to see if a wire is loose. After that, I'm over my head.

It's the switch on the light itself most likely. Have the same camper and had problems with the light switches. Push it hard and it may loosen. They're having problems with them. Easy to replace them.

It's a long shot but Some lights are not operated by the switch but must be turned on individually at the light.

Which lights are you specifically having problems with? I have the 29 RKS in the driveway at this moment. I can check to see what operates them.

If I am reading the 12v schematic correctly, the panel feeds those two devices over the recliners directly before it is switched inside the monitor panel.

Ok, so I have had my new rv for a month and was going to make a trip in for warranty because I couldn't,t find light switch for exterior front cap lights( dealer doing pdi said it was broken) but the wife found it!

If your sure which switch turns them on simply un screw the light and test with multi meter for power when switch is on . I'm assuming you already swapped bulbs???

If bulbs good and you confirmed which switch turns on lights and still no power to wires then I might have the dealer have a look at it
