New Jay Flight 22FB

Hey all! I finally did it. Put a deposit on a 2014 22FB. I know there some nice changes coming for the 15s but the deal I got was too good to pass up. Love to hear from anyone who has this floorplan . Likes . Dislikes. Issues. For a long time I looked at the Jay Flights as entry level but the standard features changed my mind. This unit has better standards than my upgraded Rockwood I just sold.
Share your thoughts folks.

Congratulations on the new rig. I just purchased a new 2013 26bh. As the 2015 models are arriving my dealer was anxious to move it. Got quite a discount over the current model. The 26bh and the 22fb are very similar - the only difference is mine is a bit longer to accomidate the bunks. Front bedroom couch kitchen and dinette are the same. We really like the front bedroom. After 3 years in a popup, it's downright luxurious. I'd recommend a mattress topper though.

Last camping trip it rained for two days straight. Spent a lot of time in there with the DW and 3 kids. I found between the couch and dinette area there was adequate room. One night we watched a movie and there was plenty of room. We could even watch the previews unobstructed while the DW made popcorn on the stovetop. It's a great layout.

Love the under bed storage area. Refridgerator/freezer could be bigger, but hey, it's camping right? Congratulations again and happy camping.

Mattress

Mine has the pillow top mattress option. I have a memory foam topper on my current trailer bed I was going let it go with it since I was getting the pillow top. Is this the mattress you have? Thanks for the well wishes. I'm excited

I do not have the Denver pillow top, but I have read on this forum that it is still lacking. Maybe others could chime in. I may not be the best one to ask though, I have a mattress topper on my king size S&F pillow top mattress at home. I like mine extra plush.

Congratulations on the new trailer! Dealers do, sometimes, offer great deals on last year's models. That was the case with mine, as well. Hope you enjoy your new rig. Happy Camping!

We have the Denver mattress and we put a topper on it. We had it from our PUP and we just cut it to fit our short queen mattress on the last TT and just moved it to the Eagle.

Mattress Topper

Thanks everyone. I'm glad I asked before I gave away my memory topper. I will take it out. Any one have any complaints on the layout as far as use or storage? Looks good in pics but I haven't seen it in person yet. It's 2 hours away. I'll see it the first time when I go to pick it up

We have the 24FBS, which is very similar to yours, but a bit longer and we have a slide (where the dinette goes out). We really enjoy that the couch faces the TV area and certainly ours has lots of storage.

As others have said, we have the Denver "pillow-top" mattress and its nothing to write home about. We bought a nice memory foam topper from Costco and it made a world of difference.

Enjoy your new trailer!

We have a 2013 22FB and love it. I think this is a perfect "couples" trailer, plenty of storage and enough room for my wife and I and our 85# pound Golden Retriever. The only change so far was a memory foam mattress topper from Costco.

LOL, Wayne. We also travel with a big Golden. I call him the equivalent of traveling with a 12 year old!

Hey reinbeauke! You will absolutely love your 22FB. Nice layout and perfect for the 2 (3) of you. Plus you have some room for an occasional visitor or 2 but make sure they are small (kids). lol
I preferred the 22 FB over the one we got in January (24 FBS) but DW had to have a slide. It's only the 2 of us and a Chihuahua (not quite as big as your golden) and it's perfect for us.
Enjoy you new rig and Happy RVing.

Thanks

Thanks everyone. My old trailer sold and went down the road last night. I'm really excited now to get my Jayco. That big empty spot in the driveway is just wrong. The only thing I know I need to do is get the aluminum wheels. I got the elite package but it didn't have the wheels. Dealer wants $175 each wheel. Not happening. Any body know for sure what the wheel size is on this model? I found what looks like them online for $63 each.

I wouldn't bother dishing out money for aluminum wheels... I would use that money for some other useful upgrades way before I started with cosmetic changes. That's just me though.

Upgrades

Just curious.
What upgrades would you suggest?
The trailer is pretty well loaded.
There are a few small things I have already started picking up. Going to add a few shelfs in some over head cabnets to increase usefull storage. Always put a nice flourescent light over kitchen sink and may switch to some LED bulbs.
I just really like the way the wheels make the unit look. The white ones look so cheap
Maybe your thinking about something I'm not.
Welcome any ideas.

Picked up a 2011 22FB yesterday - got a great deal on it - it's like new! Looking forward to camping in it - we spent a long time researching both layout and quality before deciding on the 22FB as close to perfect for us!

Congrats on the 22fb. We've had ours now for 2years and are thoroughly enjoying it! Easy to squeeze into tight spots and tow, very comfy TT.

Likes:
Outdoor shower for rinsing off
Size of fridge and 3 burner stove/oven
Thermal Pkg with upgraded A/C
I could go on forever

Dislikes:
Corner edge on cabinet next to bed makes it hard to make the bed and hurts like hell when scraping against it!
Cords on the pull down privacy shades are cheesy and frail really easy.

And like others have done, we added a memory foam topper from walmart, only did the 1.5" thick and OMG, what a difference it makes! I think I sleep better on it than our Temporpedic at home!

Happy Camping and again Congrats on your new TT!

Here's a few things I would consider before the wheels:

-MaxxAir vent cover
-water pressure accumulator
-X-Chocks
-mattress topper (if you wish)
-fridge fans
-stove top cover for more counterspace
-carpet in the pass-thru storage area to protect floor
-Oxygenics shower head
-corner splash guards for tub
-upgrade interior speakers
-carpet step covers
-rear hitch mounted to trailer frame for carrying bike rack

Just to get you started! Believe me, it never ends... Nice looking trailer. That thing will tow beautifully.
