New Jay Flight On It's way

Ordered a 2016 Jay Flight 27rls yesterday. Learned a couple lessons during the process. Unfortunately, you can't assume when a salesperson tells you something that it is the correct info, or that they know everything about their product. Secondly when ordering the next years model, don't assume that a certain package contains the same amenities from year to year. We ordered ours with the elite package, and just prior to signing the dotted line, I noticed that the package no longer includes the hide away sofa. This is now a $550 add on. I had mixed feelings regarding aluminum or fiberglass walls. Took a chance on the fiberglass. Hope it was a good decision. Can't wait for it to get here.

Congratulations on the new 27RLS and welcome to the forum.

We love our 'old model' 27RLS (2015 ).

Yeah, now I wish I could have found a 2015. It could have save me 550 to buy the stupid couch. (:

What is standard in that space if the sofa is not chosen, the J cube?

Congrats on the new TT. Now the waiting begins. I know you wished the tri fold sofa was not an option but at least the price is 1/2 of what it would cost to replace on your own. We love our tri fold sofa.

Search - Tri fold sofa - Camping World

You will enjoy it once it gets here and you are out camping.

Congrats on the new rig! And yes, its surprising how little the dealers know about what they are selling.

If you have any hesitations about the fiberglass you still have time to change your mind. I specifically avoided it on the JayFlight due to the sidewalls not being vacuum bonded and the extra weight. Not trying to freak you out as I know many people are happy with theirs. My opinion is the aluminum is just easier/cheaper to fix if there is a problem. The fiberglass sure looks nice though.

When I was younger, I just assumed salespeople knew their product line and I took their word as gospel. The older I became, and after many new vehicle purchases, I realized the vast majority (not all, by any means) of salespeople are just middlemen that you have to "get by" in order to make the purchase. Usually, I know more about the product I am looking at, and they are selling, than they do.

Congrats on the new rig, and happy camping!

In a way I blame Jayco for not putting more information about their products out for people to research. You really need to do your homework. I didn't mean to bash my salesperson, as he was great to work with otherwise.

Great sales professionals know their product inside and out. Great sales professionals make a LOT of money. Not sure RV dealerships pay enough money to get great sales professionals or sales leadership. For this I agree with you that Jayco needs to make a lot more detailed information available online so we can do our own research.

+1

I've never encountered a sales person (for anything I've ever bought) who knew more about their product than I did. I used to call them out on the errors they would make, but anymore, I just smile and nod and try to ignore them the best I can. Perhaps it's because of turnover. Recently when I bought my truck, I talked to 4 salesmen over the course of my research, I would be surprised if any of them are still there.

The one I bought my truck from had just come to that dealership 5 months prior but had been in the business for over 2 decades. I wonder how many different dealerships he's worked for?

Congrats on your new Jayco ....

I had a 2009 Jayco Eagle 256RKS with a jack-knife sofa which was horrible to sleep on. So, during 2014 Labor day weekend we went to Camping World to find a more comfortable replacement sofa. We did get a new sofa, but for a lot more than $550. We wound up buying a 2015 Eagle 284BHBE with the hide-away sofa.
