New Jayco 30 DSRE owner
Well new to me. I am picking up my 2013 Jayco DSRE this afternoon and am new to this forum. This will be my 5th rv. (Coleman pop up, Rockwood TT, Open Road 5ver, Grand Suveyor TT, and now a Jayco TT). I pretty much live in them for work about 8 months out of the year and travel all over the country for work. I bought this unit because of the layout. I love doing upgrades and mods in my downtime from work so PLEASE let me know what y'all think are the best mods and ideas for long term living and long range hauling. And has anyone added a washer dryer combo to one of these? Im sure i will be asking a ton of questions on here as soon as i pick her up today. Cant wait!!!

Well I must say you really picked out a nice home on wheels. The floor plan is soo open and airy, easy to move around in. Good kitchen space and work area all he way around. The large corner shower gives you some elbow room. One thing I enjoyed doing was going to the local farmers markets for the fresh produce each week along with real eggs. Have a feeling you'll be keeping this one for a while.

Welcome. I always had hoped to take my hotel with me on work trips. Just couldn't find one with pontoons for those overseas jobs!

I have a 2013 30DSRE as well. I have done many mods.
Swapped out kitchen and bath faucets and replaced with heavier residential ones.
Upgraded shower head.
Installed a dedicated coax line for the bedroom. Ran in the wall behind the television down to the heater vent and used that access to run the wire behind the bath sink and made a small hole the the floor for the wire to end up mounted to a Jack installed on the metal skirting. Sealed the hole with expanding foam. Looks professional and the bedroom now has satellite television separate from the living room.
Added shelves in the bedroom closets.
Added gas lift to the under bed storage.
Added spring loaded lifts to all the overhead cabinets.
Replaced dinette bench bottoms with heavier plywood to stop them from bowing. Hinged them as well so they open more like a cabinet door.
Added holding tank heater pads, heat tape to exposed pipes, wrapped pipes in R3 tubes, and added R19 vapor barrier insulation batts to the underbelly. Now in temps well below freezing my water lines are all fine and my trailer retains heat a little better.
Changed the analog thermostat to a digital residential one and added a toggle switch to control high vs. low fan speed.
Replaced water heater plug with a metal one that has a spout for draining.
Added second battery in parallel.
Upgraded 20lb propane tanks to 30lb tanks.
Not a mod but very important... Bought a large room dehumidifier and now I no longer get any wetness on windows or walls no matter the outside humidity and difference in outside / inside temps. This should do a lot to prevent moisture damage from occurring in my walls.
Added a sewer hose holding pipe to the upper area of the storage bay which I use to slide in my weight distribution bars when not in use. Keeps them secure, clean of dirt, and keeps them from getting grease on other stuff while stored.

That's about all I can remember right now. I've had good luck with my trailer. I haven't had to fix things. Just maintenance work and upgrades I wanted to add.

Thanks to everyone. I like the idea of the insulation addition to the underbelly labor intensive but worth the warmth. Today i pulled a great move!! one of my kitchen island doors came open in transit and like an idiot I opened the kitchen slide and it promptly removed part of the kitchen door!!! LOL growing pains, a bit of wood glue and she will be back to normal. I will be back on the road this coming Friday so I will keep ya posted on how this rig hold up to hauling and living in it around the country. Newbold1 you have filled my head with ideas!!! Gonna be busy in my downtime from work!!!
