Congratulations on the new Jayco and welcome to JOF.

This fall we stayed near Lafayette at 'Cajun RVera' (Passport America discount) and took a 'food tour' in Lafayette through 'cajunfoodtours.com.' (check their reviews at Tripadvisor). We had several 'high points' on our 8,000 mi trip this year and this stop was one (two?) of them.

Bigcuz,

Welcome and congrats on an awesome rig!!!

Have you decided which hitch system you are going to go with? I would highly suggest a model with integrated sway control, with 1400-1500lb bars. Pending how you pack, you can easily have 1300lb+ tw (tongue weight).

The Reese HP Dual Cam, Reese SC, and the Equal-I-Zer 4 way systems are very good models with integrated sway control. The HPDC system is a little more finicky to set up than the SC or 4 way models. The Reese hitch head (same for both models) does allow a little more fine tuning of adjustment than the Equal-I-Zer, but all three are excellent choices.

Thanks for your advice need-a-vacation. Can you please tell me you set-up that you are running? Still looking at my options. Truck sets on 35's so I need as much adjustment as I can get. Looking forward to delivery date.

I have the equalizer 4 point on my 2015 jayco 32 bhds and actually haven't been that impressed. No matter how tight I get the brackets on the frame they always loosen down on me and move on the frame, it never did this on to my old trailer which had a lower tongue weight so I've been thinking of changing to husky's sway control system

BugCuz,

YW!!!

I have the Reese HP Dual Cam, 1500lb bars w/ the Reese Titan (2.5") standard drop shank.

If your truck is on 35's, is it lifted at all? Chances are you will need a deeper drop shank. I have wondered if I could have gone with the deeper shank myself. Trailer is pretty level, maybe just a touch tongue high (less than 1").... But I was afraid the deep drop would not have been right either, unless maybe I bought a hi rise hitch ball and that would have worked.

So you are aware, there is a very good chance you will need to re-adjust the hitch head/ bars once you load the trailer. Dealers are only setting up an empty trailer, though a few can get it very close for a loaded trailer!!!

Jon,

Try calling Equal-I-Zer to see if it's suggested to possibly bolt the tongue brackets in place.

If you're looking at the Centerline (top model), from what I recall the highest rated bars are only 1200lbs. The dealer was going to throw in that hitch with our 32, but I decided against it knowing we would be well over the 1200lb bar rating. The other deciding factor was the feedback I read concerning hooking up and unhooking, that you need to be in almost a straight line. Only other complaint was it is heavy!!! Lol But all the performance reviews stated the system worked very well.

Need- great feedback, Thanks for all your help. Just wondering if you know what the weight of your trailer is loaded down?

BigCuz,

YW!!!

I had to remember where the weight slips where, sorry it took a little time.

These weights were before the trailer was 100% loaded, as we had picked up our 32 on Thu evening, got home late so we didn't load anything until Fri, then took of that afternoon. We did not have our boys with us, or anything of theirs (tv, did player, clothes, etc) in the bunk room. I have also added shelves to the bedside wardrobes and hall wardrobe, three 5" vinyl fence post sleeves underneath which hold: sewer hose, 7' GPL folding ladder, and 4-6'x1.5" pvc "tent poles" & 2-6'x3/4" poles. I added the factory Jayco rear cargo hitch (frame mounted) for our bikes (4). And 2 gravity chairs which we haul under the J-Cube chairs inside large garbage bags. In the rear bumper I store hot dog forks on one side, and fire poker and tongs on the other, with a cut down 4" u gutter to fit with a center divider.

Trailer weighed 8,860lbs with only water in the lines, nothing in the tanks. So with the additional items mentioned, I figure we are about 9,200lbs loaded. Trailer weight per the yellow sticker is just under 8,000lbs.

TW was right at 1,400lbs, but this may have changed a little due to the bikes out back, shelving, and 5" fence posts.

In the pass through we have:
10x10 Ez-Up HD model
2- aluminum roll top tables
Tub with water hoses (50', 25', 10'), splitter, 25'-10g ext cord, 50'- 14g ext cord, power strip, couple other things???
Camp Chef Explorer 2 burner stove
Coleman Roadtrip grill- Blue model. May end up removing this. Nice to have, but at times a pain to clean! Does a good job though.
2- 9x12 awning mats
X-chocks
Impact drill

Under the bed:
4 bag chairs
Ice maker
Factory bumper mount grill- didn't know if we would use it, so there it stayed. May keep it, may sell it.... Undecided! Lol
Big butterfly style bag chair from Camping World under end of bed. May shed it as it didn't get used last year.

We only use plastic silverware, disposable/paper plates. Do have a pots & pans set, couple glass 9x13 (or so) bake dishes which need to be tossed for some less fragile ones! Lol, knife set, plastic/metal cooking utensils, etc. Just trying to give an idea of what we have loaded.

Pics of our mods in my signature link. I have a mods thread in the mods forum w/ pics.

Still trying to figure out how & where a good place is to store the cast iron skillets and Camp Chef HD griddles....

Couple suggestions for the outdoor fridge: If you load it before arriving at the cg, buy some of the fridge bars to keep stuff from moving around, and buy one of the childproof lock for the door!!! Works great. Had the same door lock set up on our 4 cu ft dorm fridge we put in our first tt.

Hope this helps!!!
