I've looked at some of your signatures and see many of you towing with a 1/2 ton. I am just looking for feedback from the 26BH owners so I hope this doesn't start a similar RV.net thread
I have a 26BH and tow with a 2013 Ford F150 SuperCrew with the 5.0 V8.
So far I have not experienced any issues towing it.
I have a weight distribution hitch. Helps a lot. I wouldnt tow in a half ton without it.

i have a 06 5.4 F150 and even with the 3.55 gears and 35in tires she tows like a dream, just make sure O/D is off

i agree with whoever it was that said stay away from the toyota and the ram with the coil springs, leafs are for working coils are for comfort get something that is ment to work, now the titan i am on the fence about, they build a awesome frame and motor its just the rest of the driveline that concerns me, they have problems with axles and transmissions but with proper care it should be fine

now i agree with going as big as you can afford, i never thought that my half ton would be too small for what i want to do, thats why in about a year i plan on going 2500-3500 so i never have to worry about what i want to tow

FWIW, I just weighed my rig this weekend. I'll put full stats up on a new thread in the towing forum, but here's the gist...

Truck: 2012 GMC Sierra Crew, 5.3 L (LMG), 2 WD, HD Tow (3.42)
Trailer: 2014 28BHBE (quite a bit heavier than your 26BH)

I'm right at the max on payload capacity with full fuel and passengers (we don't put cargo in the truck). Trailer weighed ~7500 lbs (yellow sticker says 7049), TW was ~960.

The truck tows fine at 60-65 MPH and gets about 8-9 mpg. I get about 16-18 while not towing in mixed driving.

My neighbor towed a similar sized trailer with a Tundra and got what he called "bad" mileage. I don't know the specifics like tank size or exact mileage for his truck, but on the exact same journey, he would be coasting into destination on fumes while I still have at least 1/4 tank left. He also complained about how his Tundra squatted. (he traded the trailer for a 5er and the truck for a 3/4 ton Dodge diesel after less than 2 years).

I know a lot of that was a bit subjective, but those are my experiences. If I were to go back in time (hindsight and all) I would probably pick up a 3/4 ton truck. While I love my truck, I would still like to have some cushion on my capacities. But I would stay in the GMC family for reasons previously mentioned on this thread; my second choice would be a 3/4 ton Ford, or possibly an EcoBoost with all of the max towing and payload offered in the model.

That would be great, we need more CAT scale results posted in the Towing forum for folks to review and use as a reference.

Thanks in advance

Bob

I use my computer at work for just about everything (joys of being self-employed) and keep forgetting to bring my scale results... I'll get them up some time this week.

I use my Tundra to tow my 26BH and it works very well. First the Tundra does not have coil springs in the rear. I will agree that the cargo capacity is lacking a little but it is line with most 1/2 tons. Drivetrain wise, it has the beefiest setup of all the 1/2 tons with the towing package and 5.7L V8. I swapped to a Propride 3P for the best towing hitch out there and couldn't be happier. I only tow between 3500 and 4000 miles a year and the other 10k is empty so I went away from a gas 3/4 ton truck. I had a Ram 2500 Hemi. I get about 9 mpg towing and 14-15 mpg empty. With the manually selectable tranny gears, I am always in control whether going up hill or down. I highly recommend the Tundra. It out tows my old 2003 Ram 2500 QC 4x4 Hemi all day long! I do miss the stiffer suspension though.
