New Jayco jayflight 28bhbe

Hello
We are new to this site - we bought a news Jayco June 2016 - we went with Jayco because our old Rv was a Jayco 2006 Jayco jayflight 27BH which was very well built and sturdy - but because we are a family of 6 bought a new 2016 28bHBE with slide out
To have more room - we took our new rig home and about 2 months later went camping on our new rig for the first time
- to realize that they are cheaply made and lots of things loose and broken - and had a leak under the kitchen sink even with the sink NOT being is use / which warped the wood shelf !!! This is all in 3 day camping trip - super bummed our dealer we bought is about 2 hours away and won't give us the time of day ... So we took to a authorized dealer that is 30 minutes away - but they are telling us they might charge is for repair because we didn't buy there ? Even though we have a 2 year warranty
- what's wrong with these dealerships !!??
Been a nightmare

I've got a really small drip from my kitchen sink too (2015 26bhs) that's been used 6 nights, I just haven't been able to pinpoint the cause.

I bought my 28BHBE in June as well. . I've only had a few very minor issues but I quickly learned my dealer was going to be useless. I corrected all issues myself and will continue to do so until a real warranty issue arises and I have no choice but to use a dealer...

I do, but I have it at a leased site for the season.

I've already taken it in once for all the stuff I found wrong before I took it out for the maiden voyage.
I wasn't all that impressed with some of the work done so depending what it is, I might to fix it myself instead of take it in....

I guess this is the sad part. The manufacturer knows we will do this so they get away with doing a shoddy build and it's a win-win for them in the end.

I have a good friend who has a camper made by another company. He took his unit in for some minor warranty work and spent the next 3 weeks fixing the stuff they either didn't fix or broke. I will avoid the dealer if at all possible. I agree this is a win win for them but it's peace of mind for me...

I was reading my owners manual yesterday online, (taking delivery actually tomorrow) and Jayco promised to contact the dealer within (I think it was 30 days) of any warranty related work requested that the dealer has not been responsive with resolving.

I have no problems fixing my own stuff, and it sounds like that is a more efficient approach for some, but if my new TT has any of these issues, I will make sure that the factory will follow through with their promise. Well, talk is cheap as they say, but that is the plan.

When we purchased our 28BHBE, we had them fill the water tank (to flush out the winterization antifreeze) We then (with flashlight in hand) ran all the spigots, held the potty flush valve open a long time and looked for leaks.
We spent 3 hours doing our PDI. Dealer was not happy about it and kept complaining so we said, Do you want us to buy this trailer or not....... No answer from the dealer so we continued the PDI. Found a few minor issues, had then fixed BEFORE we left the lot. have not had any issues and have only been back to the dealer to get the radio straightened and get the state Inspection. Done in 2 hours and back home in another hour.

I HIGHLY recommend taking your time on the PDI. If the sales person/mechanic wants to go do other things, that is fine, But I will not drive off the lot until I have checked everything. I even looked for daylight around the slide seals while it was in all the way.

That is great advise that I will take to heart when I do mine tomorrow. I'm also going to try to video a good chunk of it to both document some of the minutia I may forget later as well as to prove any problems upstream of delivery.

I have 2 weeks of back to back camping reserved at different locations starting this weekend, so unless something major pops up tomorrow, they'll just have to fix it when I get back.

Nice thing about the through PDI, is if you have back to back camping trips, at least if you find something and the dealer gives excuses as to why they can not fix it NOW, you can get a service date scheduled BEFORE you leave the dealer. Be warned, the dealer will try to hurry you thru the PDI. Do not let them do that. My dealer allows 1 hour and I took 3. They were not happy about it BUT, like I told them, I am the one buying this trailer.
Please, let us know how it goes.
By the way, at the beginning of my PDI, (my trailer was plugged in) so I turned on the Hot water heater, watched the blue flame ignite for the propane, then turned off the propane and let it heat up using the electric. After about 1 hour it is noticeably hotter.

Have the same model and got it around the same time.

-reversed polarity on 12v plug/Usb in the bedroom, it started smoking
-leaky kitchen sink
-water leaking under shower door
-missing hooks above storage seat
-cabinet doors installed crooked
-Velcro came off dining room cushions
-T in the tank interconnect came loose

Fixed them all myself but what a pain in the ass for a new trailer!

New Jayco jayflight 28bhbe

OP, sorry to hear of your issues. We special ordered our 2017 28BHBE this past April. It has been flawless and we have been on four long outings so far. Our dealer did a thorough PDI with water and electric hookups. Did you test the water system during your PDI?

What things are now loose and broke after using it one time? Where those items checked during PDI?

Hope you get it sorted out. We love ours and have three more trips already planned this year.

I would have thought buying new would save you from headaches.

Now I'm starting to wonder if buying a 1-3 year old unit after someone had all the bugs worked out and was selling out of disgust is a better route.
My coworker was talking to a non-jayco dealer here and it is apparently common for people to trade in for this reason.

Bansai,
How did it go on the PDI today?
