New owner needs some help

I have the Jayco Jay Flight 28Bhbe 2016, just brought it home today. I parked it and unhooked the Electric hookup from the truck to the trailer and all the power switches are off inside the trailer and there's lights on underneath the stairs how do I get them to shut off and how do I make sure all the power is off and no battery drainage?

Our lights go on when the awing lights are turned on. The only way to make sure their is no power drain is to put a disconnect off the battery. Otherwise you will have hidden drain, radio, propane leak sensors etc, which will kill your battery in short order.
Others with your model will be able to give you more help on the stair lights.

Are the awning lights on also? Our amber stair light is tied in with the awning lights (believe most are). If you use the remote to turn on the awning lights, you have to use the remote to turn them off. If you don't have the remote option then...... not sure!!!

Check my mods link for how I added a switch to the battery to easily stop any draw. Used a Blue Sea Mini Switch.

Ours must be miswired. It is a 2012, but the under the stair light goes on when we have the inside light on in the camper. Never made any sense to me. Now to hear others say it theirs goes on with the awning light - now that makes sense. The switches for both our inside overhead and the outside yellow light are in the same electrical box...so a miswire might have occurred. I'll have to pull the switches and check for myself.

Our 2017 28bhbe the stair light is on the same switch as the awning light.

And the only way to not drain the battery is to disconnect it one way or another

You will need to disconnect your battery regardless. The propane detector and other small power sources will drain your battery in a few days. Just disconnect the negative side of the battery.
