Thanks...just found the thread.

MIFL: We're looking to price out an F-250 gasser, trying to decide between buying off the lot or placing an order for a custom build. 4x2 offers increased payload over 4x4, also a couple grand cheaper. Rear view camera and power tow mirrors are a must. Our rig will be coming off the assembly line on Thu, I wonder which plant it will be coming from. I heard Jay Flights are also built in Idaho.

Born: We originally placed the order Oct 14th with a due date of Dec 21. Due to overwhelming demand, it was delayed to Feb 19th. It's been the longest 4 months of our lives!

I better figure it out soon as I heard from the dealer our date moved up to 2/16.
It's funny how vehicles can be so different. We pulled our 28BHBE for a couple of years with a sierra 1500 and had very little sag. Not sure what makes the difference. You would think a 3/4 ton should have a much more robust suspension than a 1/2 ton.

It's good news to hear that others on this thread are expecting their BHBE's this month. I placed an order last month, so maybe it'll get built in this batch.

My dealer ordered 4 of them late 2015, 2 to arrive in Jan (which did), and the other 2 to arrive a couple of months later. The dealer says that mine will now be one from the second allotment but with my options, and it's build date will be pushed up to the next time this floorplan is built. Can't wait.

IOF…

So far I like the F250 6.2L but I have not had a chance to tow with it yet and I already have 15,000 miles on it in 6 Months. Only issue I have with it so far is the A/C started hissing under the dash in the evaporator (sounds like Darth Vader) every 10 to 12 secs when the Freon changes from liquid to a gas or vice versa. This happened the beginning of December with 10,000 miles on it. I have had it in to Ford and everything "checks" good on the system so they changed the expansion valve and it still does it. They are trying to tell me it is "normal" which is BS, it is super annoying so I will have to fight them. They will probably have to pull the dash out to change the evaporator which I am NOT looking forward to.

As far as where the BHBE's are built I am 99% sure Indiana from what I gathered when communicating directly with Jayco prior to ordering.

Tim…

The GM trucks have a lot more rake with the rear up higher, not sure if their suspension is stiffer as although I sat in one I never drove one. I knew the F250 would need some help, always been a Ford family so stayed that way.

With my Cap and tools etc I always have in the back I probably have 500 lbs in payload at all times.

Delivery time...

We placed the order on our 28BHBE 11/14/15, the dealer did not actually order it until a week later, probably after 11/21. They told us it would be built in February pretty soon after that and last date I got earlier this week was Feb 16th. We ordered through Orlando RV (RV One) and in discussing with the salesman (who we used when we bought our 1st camper 3 years earlier) he showed me all the 28BHBE's they had on order and said they had trailers on order months in advance and when they had a custom order they would fill it with one of those slots which sped up the process. Seemed logical especially with a dealer group that large, whether it's true or not I don't' know, still about 3 months to get it.

The GM of our dealership notified us our rig has come off the line today. Since Monday is a holiday, the earliest it will leave from Jayco is Tuesday. Which puts us in line for a delivery of next weekend. We booked a site for the weekend (supposed to be in the 80s), so we are crossing our fingers. We ordered an Equalizer 12k hitch which came in today and our dealership will install it for us at no cost.

I too am looking into getting same TT to pull with my 15 f150. Looked up specs and it looks like dry weight is just over 6700lbs with a tongue weight of 650lbs. any 1/2 ton truck should be fine as long as you don't load the truck to the gills and have a WDH set up properly? The 28BHBE and the 284BHBE Eagle is what I'll be getting.

Our '16 28BHBE sticker shows it to be just a couple pounds less than 7000 pounds... empty. Just guessing, I would say tongue weight is more closer to 900-1000 pounds.... empty. The large storage compartment is located at the front of the trailer under the bed, so I would guess tongue weight will easily surpass 1000-1200 pounds when the trailer is loaded gingerly. Then add in all the added storage in the truck bed and the passengers (which all adds to the payload weight too) and I would be guessing just about any of the half ton's will be technically overloaded.

Our current tow vehicle is a '15 Yukon (half ton) and I have been thoroughly impressed with the way it handles the trailer. Extremely impressed. That being said, we are stepping up to a 3/4 ton tow vehicle. This trailer simply deserves one, period.

We got the call this morning, the new rig has arrived at our dealership (Richardson's - Riverside, CA). We have an appointment tomorrow 8am for PDI and signing papers. We'll be camping locally this week to get everything setup and tested for our maiden voyage March 10th.

We also have an appointment to test drive an F-250 next week. We'll most likely be placing an order for a custom build, as we haven't found one on a lot that meets our needs.

Ice,

Congrats!!! Hope all goes well picking the trailer up!!!

As for the F250, if you plan on ordering exactly what you want, also price a 350 out. You may be surprised at the very little price difference and you would gain a fair amount more payload.

Good luck!!!

I see this post is from October. How has it been towing with the 1500? We are considering a 28bhbe as well but we have a 1500 too.

Slick: The rig was ordered in Oct and just arrived today. We will be towing it with the F150 until we upgrade, hopefully within the next couple months. We will be watching our weights until then.

IOF...

Got the call today that our camper arrived this morning so I took a ride over to the dealer after work to take a look, dealer is RV One in Orlando, FL. I bet our trailers were built within a day or 2 of each other. They were surprised it got here this early as it was supposed to have been built this past Tuesday so they must be moving them out quickly.

It appears to have come in as ordered with al the custom requests from what I could tell from a quick walkthrough at their storage lot.

I hope your PDI went well today, we won't get ours for a few weeks, which is a planned situation.

Where did you order your Equalizer 12K from?

Our PDI was a little longer than intended as we had some issues with the remote which operators the electric awning/slide/stabilizers. Apparently it was never initiated at the factory so it took a good 40 min to get that fixed.

We're at a local campsite this weekend kicking the tires and installing some custom shelving.

One issue we are experiencing is with the shower as one side has a little dip, and after the water drains there is a puddle that remains. Might need to have the Service Center take a look it at. Otherwise we're having no other issues. Good luck with your pickup.

Our shower pan held a little water as well. Never a problem, but it happens.

Nice… I am curious how it tows with your F150 and how the Equalizer worked.

Did you get the Standard size Shank?

Would also be interested to hear about the shelving mods you are doing.

In regards to moving up to an F250/F350, you might consider waiting until later this year so you can get a 2017 with the redesign and beefed up frame and larger Gas engine choice.

I hope all goes well on the shakedown, I am sure the family is excited!

We have a 2015 BHBE and tow it with a 2014 F150 with the Ecoboost, heavy duty tow package and 3.73 gears (rated to tow 11,200 lbs). It tows just fine! You will get pushed around a bit if you are traveling at high speeds (70-75 which the Ecoboost will do no problem) but you certainly shouldn't be driving that fast anyway. As long as you distribute the weight properly (check CAT scales) you will be fine. Unless you are a full time traveler/camper, spending the money on a 2500/3500 TV that you use maybe 6-8 times a year seems pointless. Just my .02 cents
