Thanks for all your Input!
At the moment I guess the Jay Flight 27DSRL will be too risky for me.
We have not much gear. Only my wife, our golden and myself plus some stuff.
I start to consider those models now:
Jayco White Hawk 24RBS showing
Dry Hitch Weight 485lbs
GVWR 5950lbs
Dry Weight 4460lbs
Cruiser RV View Finder Signature VS-24RKSL showing
Dry Hitch Weight 260lbs (sounds like a mistake?)
GVWR 7260lbs
Dry Weight 5,165lbs
I think those figures are pretty much save, or?
Also when we lose some roominess but safety first

When we bought the PUP we have now, the dealer said they wouldn't sell it to us unless there was at least 500 lbs. between our tow capacity and the trailer weight.

It sounds like you have a Class III hitch if I read correctly. Anyway, you may want to read about hitches and their capacities with and without weight distribution hitches.
Trailer Hitches, Hitch Accessories, Hitch Wiring
BTW, those WD hitches transfer weight forward, over the steering axle, as mentioned before here. An important reason for doing that is to keep your front end weight sufficiently high so you don't lose steering control.

yes, the hitch, invisihitch, is a class III hitch.
after some other researches I think it will be wise to go for a sway control hitch anyway.
one dealer called me yesterday and also stated that with the weight distribution hitch I can play and adjust the young weight accordingly.
he also explained that there are swift and weight control hitches (e.g. FastWay e2 Trunnion Style Weight Distribution Kit With Sway Control - 600 lb) on the market and they are happy to mount and adjust them when I pickup the trailer.
this brings back the little bigger options
in my next live I will get at least a F-150

I think the tongue weight remains constant if the trailer's weight doesn't change. A wd hitch allows the tow vehicle's hitch to carry its maximum load. Maybe one of the more tech savvy guys can explain before I start making stuff up!

A WD hitch typically increases the load you can put on a TV hitch because it transfers that load across both axles. On my F250 without WD I can only go to 5000# with WD I can go to 12500#
Without the WD hitch all the weight is on the rear and raises or removes weight from the front tires, this creates a dangerous problem with possible lose of steering control.
The WD hitch transfers some of the load back to the front axle and maintains steering control. Some tongue weight is also transferred to the TT axles. don't expect much to be transferred back I've read it's only about 10%.

The tongue weight stays the same - the wd hitch transfers some of the weight to the front wheels. Remember, the tongue weight has to be figured into the tv payload limits wd or not.

I am also new to RVing, just purchased a New Jayco White Hawk 27DRSL, should roll off assembly line 3rd week of June 2015. Tow Vehicle is a 2012 VW Touareg Diesel. Looking forward to reading the comments and getting pointers. Heading for Cody, WY for 4th of July weekend and than on to Yellow Stone.

As the owner of a 27DSRL, I just can't seem to wrap my head around the idea of towing it with a medium sized SUV. Does your Toureg have some special tow package? What about payload? We tow with a F150 Super Crew, and I can't imagine using something smaller.

I did a quick search for capacities for that vehicle and have some info, but not enough. I found a tow rating of 7700, theoretically adequate for the GVWR of your trailer, but if you bought the optional class III hitch you have a 6000/600tw limit right there. That wheel base pulling a 31' trailer boggles my mind, if no one else's. I have to wonder if your trailer salesman assured you that the VW was adequate. Anyway, do a bit of what is now Monday morning quarterbacking and make your own decision. Oh, yeah. You may want to stop that thing from time to time. Not sure how that'll work out.

A 600# tongue weight equates to a TT of aprox 4000# (15%). IMHO a vehicle's max tow capacity has little to do with what you should actually tow.

I must admit my jaw dropped a little when I read that as well. I think a VW diesel or the OP's BMW diesel would handle the weight fine and would have the power to pull it but stability will be pretty scary I think. I didn't like driving our 2013 F150 with a 31' foot trailer behind it.
My advice would be to look at much shorter trailers or a hybrid.

We decided for a Cruiser RV Viewfinder.
These guys are really loaded and have a great quality.
Btw, ours has the lowest hitch weight I could find. 260 lbs!

Nice rig...I would be interested in how it handles since the GVWR is 7260 lbs and the hitch weight is only 260 lbs. Typically the hitch weight is about 10% - 15% of the GVWR. Please let us know.
