New to forum and a question
We picked up a 2007 19ft Jayflight a couple of months ago. All has gone well on our first two trips...with the exception of returning home with a tank safety strap dragging on the ground. I hadn't looked at the tank set up before and it doesn't appear to be all that strong. We had the dealer replace the strap but do those little strips of sheet metal really do any good??

Hi, welcome. When you say tank safety strap, what tank are you referring to? While I do not have the TT as you I have owned a couple of Jayco's and have looked at many on dealer lots, and while I do not recall seeing safety straps it is possible they are something new.

The safety strap has me wondering too. Is it on one of the holding tanks?

My 2007 Jayco has two sheet metal straps (think hot water tank safety straps) under each of the three holding tanks. My local Jayco dealer replaced the broken one in under 1/2 an hour. I'm sure they do some good just seems like a "weak link" to me.
Could be an after market add-on??

Greetings Fresno from another member in Fresno. Our Starcraft has the same straps you're talking about and I am speculating that they were just used during assembly of the trailer. Our straps just sort of hang there loose not doing anything. I am guessing they were just there to hold the tank up while the support rails for the tank were installed.

Thanks tbwill...those sound exactly like the straps under my trailer. So I guess the are standard on at least some models.

My thoughts exactly. Used during assembly.

Starcraft and Jaycos were built side by side for a while, so maybe thats all the straps were for.

We had one of those safety straps on our Viking PUP for our holding tank also. But the tank itself was actually supported by the frame. When ours broke after 7 yrs DH just replaced it but there was no real reason for it to be there, like you said, maybe during the assembly. It just gave him peace of mind to replace the part.

Agree with Joe and Joyce.
Just checked my gray water tank - had 2 straps; not very tight. Tank seems to be setting on bracket/frame
Also checked my black water tank - had 1 strap running through a triangle bar; not tight. Tank is setting on a bracket bolted to frame.
Fresh water tank is not visible.
