New To Towing/RVing

Hi there we are proud new owners of a Jay Flight 21QB.
Have a couple of questions on the fresh water tanks and tongue weight. Our tt is equipped with 2 40 gallon fresh tanks. 1 is directly over the axles and the second tank is located to the rear. If I were to fill the tank to full, I was wondering if the rear tank gets balanced out by the front tank (being over axles, applies to front/ TW) and is it a wash in weight? Or does that rear tank apply pressure to lift the tongue off the hitch?
I understand that each tank is 332 lbs of weight.

I just recently went to the scales with the tanks being dry, but had it loaded out as if we were going to hit the road to a full hookup site. So I do know all the specifics.

TV Colorado Duramax GCWR 12700 lbs
St. Ax. 2780
Dr. AX 2160
Tot 4940

TV with WDH
St. Ax. 2680
Dr. AX 2780
TT 4520
Tot. 9980

TV w/o WDH
St. Ax. 2460
Dr. AX 3080
TT 4420
Tot. 9960

Calculated TW to be 600 lbs.
Also, new to towing in general, so I am not sure what I am supposed to feel as we are towing. But I do notice some times like there might be a subtle bucking motion when towing at speed on freeway. Not hard, but light. If I were to add another 100Lbs to the TW, do you think that would help or would I just be towing extra weight.

Thanks for all of your input in advance.

As long as the rest of the load out is balanced the back FW tank full would be 332 Lbs. Using the worst conversion of 15% to the tongue you would only be lifting 48 lbs. off the tongue weight so I don't think it would be a big problem if everything else is balanced.

Be sure you don't exceed the GVW of your trailer with all that water. Personally, I'd just put about ten gallons into one of the tanks and fill up at the campground. That gives you enough water to wash hands and use the potty if necessary. (Unless there's no water available at your destination.)

For what it's worth, my users manual says not to travel with full tanks. I've never quite figured out if that's because of the overall weight or if they're afraid they're going to fall out onto the highway! I must admit that I've brought significant amounts of black water home with me because of the ease of dumping at home and had no problems.

We travel with both freshwater tanks full all the time in our 27BHS. Adds 60lbs to the tongue weight, as verified by the CAT scale. If you pack heavy though, you will be right at, or over, your gcwr.

Others addressed the weight question but the bucking issue; is it because of an uneven road or bumps in the road. If so, I would say normal, if not, then I would be concerned that you have an unbalanced load; most likely too much weight in the back.

I understand what you are saying, however, sometimes it's not practical to only carry 10 gallons of water when traveling.

It's one thing to go straight to a campground with either city water, or a good source of water upon arrival. However, in my case, that would not work. Where we boondock, there is no water to add to the tanks upon arrival. Therefore, we have to carry all the fresh water we need for the entire weekend.
