New to us, Jay Feather Sport 199

Hi all.. We just acquired a new to us, 2010 Jay Feather Sport 199.. This replaces a very tired 1994 Jayco tent trailer..

Any tips or suggestions on things that we should do to prepare our new trailer?

Much appreciated,

Rob

Check for leaks, especially in the rear corners. I've been fighting one on the passenger rear that destroyed a good chuck of flooring. Behind the plastic decorative pieces that hold the rear tailights jayce used a type of tape to seal the rear wall to the sidewall. Mine had come loose over the years and was letting water inside. Not a good design but it is repairable. Also the plastic pieces trap water and it gets inside at the bottom. Take a close look and make sure your not having the same issues I am. Mine is a 2010 199 also.

Depending on how old it is, I'd consider removing all the seals and replacing them because that's a good place for leaks to form. Then get some eternabond tape and run it at the front where the roof hits the trailer.

Hi all.. Just finished our first camping trip in the new to us trailer on the weekend.. Went pretty well.. It was a damp Saturday so my wife and I spent much of the time indoors. I managed to finish a pocket book while listening to the rap a tap on the roof. We had replaced the 'thin' camper mattress with a 'better' foam mattress.. To be honest, still not quite right so I think we have to add a topper to the new mattress as well. First night sleep wasn't too sound. Got used to it on the second night. All the services worked fine, shower is a bit tight but the hot water lasted for two full length showers. No complaints there. Stovetop also worked well though the exhaust fan is too loud for my liking. We did a full service campsite so got to test out the sewer hookup.. No issues but my wife wasn't interested in helping with the hookup, lol.

Our next trip is book for June 21st weekend.. This time we will be next to a lake, hope the weather is warmer and dryer..

Catch you later..
