New Trailer has been ordered

The Wife and I just placed an order for a new 2017 Jayco Jay Flight 28BHBE.

We ordered it with all the bells and whistles except the fiberglass side walls (stayed with aluminum after hearing so many issues with fiberglass), the bumper grill and the kitchen skylight. We even have the factory installing a slide topper for us.

We deliberated back and forth about purchasing local, RV Direct or RV Express. We ended up going local. The cost was about $1.500 more than RV Direct but we did not have to travel (travel costs) or worry about any warranty work needing to be done.

We managed to get 25% off the MSRP and did not pay the destination charge or any dealer pre fees. I feel like we worked out a fair deal for both the dealer and us.

The sales person told us it would be about six weeks before the trailer would be done-yea right I am not holding my breath on that. We were also told we should hear an official expected production date in a week (once again not holding my breath)

No it is a matter of waiting and preparing for a good and proper PDI.

I have posted a few threads asking some questions to assist me in this process and wish to thanks those who provided me with input to make an informed decision---Thanks.

Congrats on the new rig on order!!!!

Another thing to consider is a new wdh, depending on your current ones bar rating. From what others have posted, the 28 BHBE can possibly have upwards of a 1200lb tw depending on how you load.

Hope all goes efficiently with the order.

Need-a-Vacation,
I have a new 14k Equalizer hitch on order with a 2 1/2" receiver shank for the new trailer. I sold my old hitch with my other trailer.

New Trailer has been ordered

Congrats on placing the order. You say u skipped the fiberglass sides because of so many issues? Can you post links to them? I've haven't read of them. Yes they cost more and weigh more. What is your tow vehicle?

Also Jayco will not install a topper on the slide from the factory on the 28BHBE. I talked to Jayco twice about them doing it on my 2017 and they said they would not. The dealer will. I had the dealer install mine. I bet if you press for info the dealer will tell you they are installing it and not the factory. Or call Jayco and ask. I did. That being said my dealer did a good job.

Congratulations and THANK YOU for your service!

I love my 28BHBE. I started with a used 10k equalizer hitch I bought from a friend but decided I would be more comfortable with the 12k version based upon suggestions here. It made a huge difference.

SouthCo,
Interesting regarding the slide topper. I contacted Jayco and the rep I talked with said they could and quoted me a price.

New Trailer has been ordered

I guess things have changed since April lol. What brand topper is the factory going to install? If I may ask, what was the price they quoted? Congrats on the soon to be new trailer. Post up pics when you get it. Now the hard part, waiting for it...

We are supposed to be having them installed on our Eagle TT. The invoices I have seen were 675.00 for three.

Fast delivery. The dealer called on Monday and said our trailer was done and being shipped. The dealer called this morning and said the trailer has arrived.

So now we have our PDI schedule for 0830 Sat morning. I hope all goes well.

What are the "so many issues" with the fiberglass side walls that caused you to go with aluminum?

ctbailey,
In general just reading to comments on this forum and other forums regarding the paint fading issues on the fiberglass trailers that arise so quickly and the delamination issues. It was a chance I did not want to take with my new trailer.
