New truck/ weight distribution hitch?

When we bought our Whitehawk MRB23 I had a GMC 1500 with a WDH. we are fixing to buy a fifth wheel, so today I purchased a GMC 3500. My question is, we willing be bringing the Whitehawk back from where it is parked in the summer with the new truck. Do I still use or need to use the WDH, though I might need to adjust the height on it?
Thank you

Congratulations on the new truck and new trailer!

I think you'd have to take into consideration the distance and speeds you will towing your Whitehawk.
Myself, if I hadn't had sway issues with the trailer in the past, I'd feel OK without the WD hitch for non-highway (lower speed) towing for a reasonable distance - sorry. can't really define what 'reasonable' is.

I'm sure you'll hear from others.

I wouldn't worry about the WDH. I'd say there isn't enough weight there to worry about distributing with a one ton tow vehicle. If you are concerned with the sway, it sure ain't a bad idea to spend the time to make the hitch adjustment.

When I was in your situation (new 1 ton truck and waiting on the 5th wheel) I towed our TT without the WDH. I used an aluminum adjustable hitch I already had. I also tried to make sure I had plenty of weight on the hitch so I didn't get in a bad spot on the trailer weight distribution.

Good luck!

Even though weight and/or distribution may not be an issue, the WDH will still provide added stability between between the TV and TT, plus enhance the function of the sway control.

Less than ideal weather can surface during a 650 mile trip.

Just food for thought.

It's probably in the optional range with that trailer, but if you can hook it up, I sure would. It can't hurt and can only help.
