New twist on reservations

This is the second time this has happened to me, the first was in Arkansas last summer and this time in Maryland. I wanted to make a reservation at Susquehanna State Park so we could go to Conowingo dam to watch Eagles. I was online on their website when my internet service glitched so I called the reservation number, a nice sounding lady answered and after I explained what I wanted she said the only dates they had left that was not full was two days at the end of the month and I explained that wouldn't work for me and thanked her. The next day I got on the site and there were plenty of electric and non electric sites, I made my reservations and when I got there, I saw maybe Eight campers the two days we were there. In my opinion this hurts the industry when we have a person that seems to be working just for the money and not helping people or their business. Done venting.

Been there done that. Don't know what to tell you. It has been like that for a very long time.

... have also experienced that.

Many of the services and products we use regularly have been "perfected" to the extent they are no longer useable for their intended purpose. Like Parcany, I can't add anything else.

It's the luck of the draw. You've got those types (and we have too) and you've got the reservation lady we called last week who dug in and found us 2 days on one site, then two days on another, to make our reservation work. She also flagged our reservation so that we can stay on one spot if a cancellation happens.

If we don't get results we want on the phone, we email and/or call back later- or what Op did, check online again for magical spaces to appear.

I've seen it many times that the campground was fully booked on ReserveAmerica (we had a prior reservation), but when we got there, many sites were actually open, including some prime waterfront sites. I believe that there is a lot of people who just book very early on, especially for the highly-desired sites, and when it turns out last minute that they can't go, they never cancel the reservation. At the end, the sites sit unused, when there would have been some other campers who would have been happy to make reservations on short notice. I don't know if people have too much money. I would always cancel if I can't go, just to get SOME money back and to open up the campsite for other people to book.
