Newbie battery question.

Hi all. I am brand new at owning a TT. I picked up my new white hawk 23mbh from camping world yesterday and had a battery problem as soon as i got home. TT front jack was working fine when plugged into my TV but when I unplugged it none of the electrical would work. This includes front jack and exterior and interior lights. I had to plug the shore line in to get any electrical to the TT. What am I missing? Shouldn't my Battery work all of the above?

Thinking Back during the inspection at the dealer the TT was plugged into a shore line the hole time. I didn't think to unplug and check everything with the battery. I dealer installed two 12v deep cycle batteries during there PDI. Is it possible they gave me dead batteries? I cant find any battery cut off switch and the batteries appear to be connected correctly.

Any help for this newbie would be appreciated. Thank you.

Have you opened up the battery compartment yet? I would suspect the inline fuse is blown or missing. You always want to have the battery connected while underway. The battery will power the emergency brakes if you become disconnected.

Also some TTs have power disconnects for the battery, might want to look for a red handle to disconnect the power.

Also note there are lots of phantom power drains on the battery, so if you are not connected to an external power source, you should disconnect the battery to save it. It will be dead in 1 -2 weeks from the phantom power drains.

Also go to your local auto parts store and buy a couple packs of spare fuses. There should be a 30 amp fuse in the battery box, and a number of 15 amp fuses in the fuse box. If you blow one, you will blow a bunch figuring out why you blow the fuse. Tongue jacks seam to blow a lot of fuses at times.

Your battery should work all of the above if properly charged and all fuses and breakers are right. First of all check the inline 30 amp fuse coming from the batteries and see if that is OK. If you have a meter you can check the batteries for charge.

Thanks for the quick advice. After what felt like the entire day of messing with the battery I was finally able to fix it. It ended up being the screw that held the ground wire to the bottom of the frame broke off. So the batteries were not grounded. Glad I was able to fix it without the dealer. But I feel this is somthing that should have been found in the dealers PDI that supposedly took them 8 hours. What a joke.
Thanks for the help.
