Newbie here has a water pump question

My wife and I are enjoying our first ever trailer -- one trip so far. I was reading posts about water pumps which made me wonder: When I'm connected to city water, do I need to use the water pump at all? Or does the water pump come in to play only when I'm drawing from my "country" water tank? Thanks for your help.

When connected to city water do not turn your pump on. The pump is only for when you are pulling from your fresh water tank

One time you may need the pump is if nighttime lows are forecasted to be below freezing. Add ten or so gallons of water to your fresh tank, drain your hose, and disconnect from the city supply. Your tank is much less likely to freeze and you won't have to wait for your hose to thaw before getting water.
