no gas to gas furnace burner
Hello all,
new here and have an issue. Was given an 89 3250 with not much use. Testing furnace, fan comes on for several seconds, igniter runs for a few seconds, never get any gas to light. Stove works great so I know I have gas. There is this shut off valve that I have tried both ways several times. I am guessing parallel to the floor is open but please let me know if that's wrong. Suburban Model NT-30SP. I have removed the whole gas rail off and cleaned the bottom of the furnace and the rail itself from light rust. Is there another shut off valve for the furnace anywhere? Any help is appreciated as fall is coming fast here!
Dan

Welcome to the Forum from Western New York State! Have you tried the furnace with that valve handle pointed up and down instead? My first thought was it's in the 'off' position in your picture.

This link will take you to a source for the manuals for your furnace. I took a quick look at the installation manual and it doesn’t seem to show a valve. May be added by a PO.

Correction: the service manual does show a valve in a drawing. Maybe it was “optional”.
What about the control valve? Not sure how to test one but if it won’t open there’ll be no gas.

I know in my trailer I sometimes have to prime the system by turning on the gas for the stove until it lights. Could be as simple as that.

yes I have the installation and user manuals. The user manual actually says open the valve, refer to diagram 1 and then doesn't have it in the diagram :/

Welcome to the Jayco Owners Forums (JOF)
I believe the valve needs to be vertical, following the line. If it has never lit, you may want to pull the igniter and check it out.

the igniter is working great after I cleaned the contacts. I think I will loosen the large brass nut and see if there is gas.

Good idea. Also, on many water heaters, the igniter contains the "flame sensor" which is supposed to shut down the gas if it doesn't sense a flame. I am not sure about your wh though if it there or separate. ~CA
