No mice please!

Had mice in my trailer last year and do NOT want that mess again. They entered through a hole in the floor above the fresh water tank where the hoses are clamped on. I filled that with steel wool, I guess they don't like that. Many people have said that peppermint will keep them out the best of anything. Do I use peppermint extract or what exactly. I plan I putting several little dishes around the trailer with holes punched in the covers to allow the smell out. I have to take it to storage and don't want them spilling all over before I get it there. Any other suggestions people have to keep the varmints out is appreciated. I will use dryer sheets also(can't hurt).

"PURE" peppermint oil, not extract. You can get it at most natural food stores or on Amazon.

I read on this forum where one member put the bait traps in a plastic container with holes in sides under his RV with good results. Maybe you could do this at your storage facility, I plan on using this method but I will store mine in the back yard.

We use Bounce dryer sheets in the camper in storage compartments and also on the inside. We also use in vehicles that are not used very often and it seems we have had good luck. The steel wool around any open spot on the underside of the camper also does help a lot.

Dryer sheets is a myth. I used them in my trailer and had mice nest RIGHT ON TOP OF THEM. I like the smell of dryer sheets...but they don't bother mice.

Same with me last year, dryer sheets didn't seem to slow them down. Thanks for the input.

I found a 4 foot long snake skin wrapped around my plumbing when I went to winterize last year. No mice though!

I have had good success so far with Irish Spring bars broken into quarters and put in all the corners and void spaces as well as a couple of sonic mouse repellers. The trick the sonics is to remember that they work like a flash light. It does not go through walls or around corners.

I've been using one of those electronic Mouse deterrents that sends out a high Frequency Rodents apparently dislike. Combined with the bounce sheets I had no mice when storing the popup I used to have. TT is stored in a field behind my house so I will assume it's working, LOL

I also plug up the furnace vent and any other areas that I can find and reach with metal screen.

I tried the irish spring soap method a few years ago in my garage. I placed the chucks around the old car, each side side of the garage door (small gapss), in a couple buckets that had a few grains of left over bird food. Well that bucket had 8 dead mice in it by spring. Don't know why, but they could climb in but could not climb out. So I am not wasting my time with any of the old myths.

I stick with sticky traps, peperment oil, I filled every single last penitration in the trailer with steel wool and caulk. So far no issues with mice.
