No Power to Electric Stabilizer Jacks
I'm looking for help in troubleshooting failed stab jacks. I just bought a 2014 32BHDS for my family as we move from CA to AL. I'm in the Army and we are being relocated back to the East Coast. The new camper stab jacks don't work, front or rear. The electric tongue jack and slides work great so there is enough power. Maybe this is a fuse issue. Any suggestions? I've been a fan of this site for months as I've contemplated this purchase. Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

Purposely did not order powered jacks on my 2014 WH pretty much for this reason. When you have problems with them, they are expensive to replace. I have the manual type and use a cordless drill to raise and lower. When the drill dies, I'll spend $49 and buy a new one.
Don't the power jacks have separate motors? If so and if you're having the same problem on all 4, then it may be a power problem. Trace the wiring back to the control panel. May be a fuse or breaker or even a wire that has been disconnected. Sounds like it may require a trip to an RV service center.
good luck

Try giving the motor a tap with a wrench while someone holds the switch. I've had motors stop on me before because of exposure, after a couple taps with a wrench, it gets them going again. Kind of like starters that way...

If it has 2 motors and 1 switch to raise/lower then I'd suspect fuse or switch first. If it has 1 motor then Camper may be on to something.

Most likely a fuse. Second place to look is the cheap switches, those switches are a problem if your camper has been pulled on brine sprayed roads. Ordered my last camper with manual jacks and would not have accepted it if it came in with electric. But since yours are new I would get them fixed at a dealership.

If they are the scissor type with an retract and extend button them I am going to say fuse/breaker or power issue as both have isolated switches. You do have a tool provided to manually crank them down which is the small t end of the brass colored rod sticking out just above the motor. Instead of hitting the motor I would try this first. Also if you or someone else retracted them too far it may have blown the fuse.
I had a switch go bad on me and you can test by simply removing the two screws on the switch and jumping briefly between a top or bottom connection to a middle one. A better option would be to test with a voltage meter for power there at the switch.

Yes! A cheap VOM in the toolbox can be your friend.

One of mine failed on the trip home from the dealership. I found a bad crimp connector. Easy fix once I found the problem using a 12 volt test light and I like it better than a multimeter. IMHO

If both jacks don't work the first place I would look at is a fuze/circuit breaker. Recycle the circuit breaker and then see if it works. Next look for a broken wire, or a wire that has pulled out of its crimp.

If it's new why not get the dealer to fix it?

My rear jacks have started working and not working. I was hoping it was a ground, but it's not. Probably going to cost some bucks. Still, worth it to me. But I'm not living on military pay (anymore.) I imagine you've found the slots so you can manually crank them. But stay safe and thank you so much for your service to this still extrordinary country.

In the owners manual for the electric stabilizers, it mentions a self resetting circuit breaker for the electric stab jacks. I find no mention if there is two circuit breakers, one for each the front and rear stabilizers or just one breaker for both stabilizers combined. I would look at a potential failure of the self resetting circuit breaker as a possible cause.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm taking it back to the dealership for repair. I tried to avoid it because they're 3 hours away. I'm hoping this isn't going to be a recurring problem.

Joe,
Do what you can to learn what and where the issue was and how they solved it. It's info that you may need down the road. Also post what you learn, it'll help someone else (like me) out some day.
Bless!
