Norcold at altitude

So this is either dumb luck or accidental genius.

I live at 6000' and always have problems getting the fridge going on gas. Normally turning on the stove for a few seconds does the trick. Lately it's been more finicky so I shutoff the gas then opened the combustion chamber(?) to check the spark. When I did this, the fridge lit up on the first spark with the gas turned off at the bottles. I'm guessing the pressure reduction leaned it out for a proper mixture. I then turned the gas on and it's now good to go.

This cannot be a fluke since I made about 20 attempts with no luck prior to this.

Procedure
1. Propane tanks off
2. Fridge on setting 5
3. Verify fridge operational
4. Propane tanks on

I live at 8800 ft elevation. I start the stove to get main gas line purged. I press in the knob with gas setting on medium, count to 10 and press the igniter. Of course you have to keep the gas knob pressed to get the thermocouple hot before you can let it go. Usually it takes a couple of times to ignite. If you need a second or third try, only count to 5. Other things, there is a selector knob for electric, gas, or off. You need to remember that one!

Like Skids I lived until recently at 8900' next to Crystal Peak. Guess we were neighbors.

Anyhow, I never had a problem with the fridge with this exception. Having set dormant for several months more than once I had to use a can of air and blow around the water heater area to get that gas to ignite. I'm guessing there were cobwebs or something in there although I could never see anything nor figure out why it was helpful because everything seem to be sealed.

Now I’m at 7500’ and same thing, flashing lights on arrival. Tried the stove trick 5x, no dice. Propane off, it fridge lit off first attempt, then propane on. GTG.

That is a good trick to know. Inundated it with gas and it drives out the oxygen...no lite!
