Norcold Fridge Defrost

I am wondering why the defrost hose that drains into a cup behind the freezer has a plug in it.

It's to keep the bugs out. It should allow water to drip out.

Leave it be! it's to keep bugs from nesting in it. Water will drip thru it and into the little pan.

Better yet, run that hose out through the fridge vent panel. During hot and humid conditions, the drip tray can fill up faster than the water can evaporate causing spillover. When it drains out onto the ground you never have to worry about it.
