Angry Norcold fridge door misaligned

Need help!! The fridge is not aligned right where it doesn’t latch. Now it seems like it’s taking forever to get cold. Does anyone have any idea how to adjust these doors? Model number N8X. Freezer works great. Thanks

I don't know about adjusting.
Did you check the hinges to if one was broken? Many of them have.

If the door doesn't seal, the 'cold' will fall on the floor.

That’s what I’m wondering. Door seems like I have to push in really hard on the bottom. Hinges don’t seem broke. Can’t figure out how to remove the plastic covering to get to the hinges.

I think it was too much weight in the door which was throwing it off. Still not right in my mind.

I fixed it with 2 washers on the bottom hinge, just couldn't figure out how to access the bolt. I had to use force to pop the faceplate off the control panel, then snuck a 7/16th wrench to remove the bolt from the top hinge and the door came out. My gasket is probably misaligned about 1/4 inch now, but the door is much harder to unlatch and therefore will not pop open when driving.

justlb33,

May not be your root cause.., but as a preventative measure I installed the metal reinforcement bracket on the bottom of my Norcold frig door. Easy fix and a lot cheaper than a new door because the OEM plastic hinge isn't replaceable as a separate component. The OEM plastic hinge is prone to break.

The hinge is weak. The best way to fix it is to remove the door and put several washers on the bottom hinge. Then don't put anything heavy in the door. Ours took three washers on the big door and two on the freezer. If you try and straighten the hinge it will just bend easier the next time.

What Eagle said. You can also get this hinge reinforcement through Amazon for a better price. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I had a similar issue in our 212QB that we just traded in. Seemed like shoddy craftsmanship to me as the freezer door didn't seal correctly so they had just put a spacer in between the door and the side of the fridge. Caused us to always be cautious that the freezer was shut all the way. I was under the assumption the fridge wasn't covered by warranty, so unfortunately we just dealt with it.
