One wheel isn’t braking

I ran to get an inspection and back to storage. It felt like the brakes weren’t what they should be. So I thought to feel each wheel and noticed three were very warm and the 4th was cool. I was in a hurry and looked at the wiring and didn’t notice anything. I will be pulling apart this week, but curious if anyone had the same issue or know what the common cause might be?

I believe all 4 brakes are wired together, if one gets power they all get power. Inspect the wiring to make sure it’s correct. If one doesn’t brake the shoes could be too loose to contact the drum or the auto adjuster (if your rig has that) isn’t functioning. The mechanical parts may be missing or broken preventing the brakes from working. The next piece is the electro magnet may not be working. It would have to be a dead short for the other brakes to work tho.
Wiring is a visual inspection. The internals require removing the wheel and drum for a visual inspection. The magnet, put 12volts to it and see if it is attracted to iron (drum or screwdriver, not stainless steel).

I had an electro magnet failure on one wheel don’t remember how much to replace but it was inexpensive.

It's also possible that the brakes need adjustment.

When my Designer was new the left rear brake wasn't working. It had the magnet it in so I saw the normal display on my brake control, but nothing else. the adjusting mechanism was just not there. Obviously left out from the factory.

I didn't notice it until I was 250 miles from home and I had a mobile tech take a look. Jayco covered it under warranty by the mobile tech since it was a hazard to move with 25% loss of total braking and 50% loss on one side.

I bet your mechanic pulled that brake drum to check the brakes, had trouble getting the drum back on and adjusted your brake pads away from the drum so he could get it back on.

Ok, I didn’t have too long to mess with it today. It was in storage and had storms rolling in. I pulled the Hub and it came off easily. I cleaned up the inside of the hub, it seems a little greasy but I didn’t see any evidence of the grease seals failing.

It kind of seemed it was sticking when I moved the magnet so I cleaned it up with brake cleaner. I moved the adjuster out until I could barely get the hub on. I also tested the magnet and it was grabbing fine when energized. Once I got it back on, tested it and seemed to be grabbing again, but had a noticeable hum. Is that a sign of anything? Hopjng it was the adjuster being off. How much brake pad should the shoes have?
