original battery wiring

Hey everyone! I bought our SLX this year from friends. I knew going into this purchase that the battery system needed some work. The previous owner had gotten over his head on repairing it.

The symptom as described to me was that the battery was getting hot, even after replacing it. He was afraid that the converter was going out.

I took some pictures of the harness and such, being a newb to all things travel trailers. I was surprised to find that the positive lead appears to be a much smaller (10 AWG) than the ground wire (maybe twice as big?). I would assume that you'd want the same gauge for the hot side from the battery.

Now it appears to me that the guy replaced a portion of the hot lead with a smaller size wire with integrated fuse. It's only 12 AWG and the fuse is 30A.

I'm just wanting to rebuild this portion. What is the factory original supposed to be?! Thanks for any advice!
