Our April order converted to 2022

Hi all,

We put our down-payment on an SLX Flight 184BS Baja with Solar kit and 13,500 btu AC on the roof on 2nd April with our local Jayco dealer and were told to expect a late May delivery up here to BC in Canada.

I followed up today as we want to start booking summer trips and got this back:

This is to follow up the previous e mail I sent as we just heard back , direct, from the Jayco Rep at the factory :

This is an order we will be converting over to a 2022 model in the next week or so for July production.

The big change on the SLX is that this will now have the Modern Farmhouse as the standard décor.

Will have updated confirmations for you once our system has been updated.”

So to summarize the trailer will not be built now till July. If you still elect to proceed though you will be getting a 2022 model with the new Modern Farmhouse white wood decor inside.

I understand this isn’t ideal so please let us know whether you still want to proceed. Every single BAJA model slot is booked so the only way we can potentially get you a 184 model a bit earlier is if you want a normal 184 SLX with the side A/C. Please advise what you think and what you would like to do. I will try to keep you updated with new info as I hear more every step of the way

Anyone heard anything else on the 2022 updates? We're a little frustrated by the additional wait but such is life. Hoping we don't lose all of summer.

The nerd says there is a price increase with the new 2022 model release in july. Did your dealer try to up the sale price?

I waited 5 months for the same exact model, doesn't sound like you will be using it much this summer but the upgrades sound like it worth it.

We ordered our Jay Feather 22RK on January 8, 2021 and was told by the salesman it was an 8 to 13 week wait. After order was confirmed it changed to 11 to 16 weeks. Don't know how your salesman would think it would be only 2 months. Still no word on the status of ours.

We got our 2021 price locked in. Apparently the interior is the only change so we're just annoyed at losing 2 months of travel time

Just got informed by Jayco that our 22RK is "tentatively" scheduled for week of June 14th. One month later than original guess. Tentative because they are still having supply problems from their suppliers due to Covid. Could be even later. Have to start cancelling and re-booking reservations. Oh, well.

Ordered a Jay Flight 28BHS mid-Jan. Dealer expected delivery late Mar. Mid-Mar dealer told me early to mid-April. This week dealer said June. We canceled the order yesterday; got our deposit back (easy dealing/working with RV One).

DW and I have little confidence the June date will hold, so we will use our trouble free 2010 25BHS for one more season.

I asked what the issue is/are causing the delay(s); sales rep did not know. As others have posted, there is this:

On a positive note, the modern farmhouse decor is awesome. We have it in our 5er and absolutely love it.

We were not so sure about the Farmhouse decor until we saw one without it. Glad we did!

Yeah we quite like the look of it in pictures too. We are still calling around to see if anyone has a 184BS Baja in stock or on early order.
We are thinking that maybe we don't need the 8000btu to 13500 rooftop AC upgrade afterall and that we can add the solar on ourselves.

Anyone have any opinions on the AC upgrade for a 184 size trailer? Maybe I'll so some more searching on here and start a new post if I can't find much.

We had the 8K BTU side-mount in our 195RB. We found it did a reasonable job until outside temps starting hitting ~90+ - then it seemed to have a bit of a struggle. So it will depend on the temps you will be spending the majority of your time in. If only occasionally in higher temps it will likely be fine. If the majority of time is higher temps I'd hold out for the 13.5K upgrade.

Gracey1982, I assume you realize their talking about the 2022 model being made in July 2021. April 2020 before the pandemic I ordered a Jayflight 29RKS. It was deliver to me in June 2020 as a 2021 model. I wasn’t happy in Jan this year when I found out they did some changes that I would have wanted such as the farmhouse interior, DC fridge, and a light switch on the wall for the bedroom. Some dealers may have what you want in stock. Seems like some RV dealers have lots of travel trailers Good Luck

Yes this is exactly what I am taking about. April 2021 order will be a July 2021 but built to the 2020 specs. For the SLX 7 184BS Baja the only change is the standard Farmhouse interior apparently. We've hunted around all of BC and no one has an in stock 184BS Baja with the 13500btu rooftop AC and Solar installed.

not sure how production is working currently, but we ordered our 242bhs august 2,2020. we were able to take delivery of ours the first week of December. this being said we ordered it from a dealer that is close enough to the factory the owner and his wife actually went and picked them up from the manufacture so i would assume that made delivery quicker. I would count on getting yours in August if my time table is anything to go off of

I ordered a '22 28BHS yesterday 5/5/21. Dealer advised a July build date and a delivery by September.
He will let me know more on specifics.

I have been searching to see what updates are for the '22 model year

Big scare today! Got a call from our salesman this morning that he was just informed that Jayco had decided to discontinue production of the Jay Feather 22RK model for 2021. We went to the dealer to get our deposit back and he showed us a 22RB that had just arrived yesterday. Same size but much different layout. Salesman said it would not be the same price as they were when we ordered our 22RK in January. I asked him to quote me a price on the 22RB (which we weren't really enthusiastic about) and he took a really long time (in the Sales Manager's office...I thought due to price negotiation). After a long wait, the salesman returned with the manager who told us that our name sounded familiar to him and he found that there was paperwork with our name stating a VIN number and build date of second week of June. He called Jayco and they told him our trailer just made the cut and would be one of the last 2021 22RK's built. Hallelujah!! I'll even take the additional delay on the build!

we just picked up our 184BS in late march and have been getting ready, one thing to keep in mind that we did not realize while shopping was that the door width is only 19inches and does open 90 degrees! it is very difficult to get large items into the unit.
