Our Maiden Voyage

This weekend we took our new Jayflight over to Alaska for her maiden voyage.

It was a great test for the truck as there is a 3400 foot climb and descent out of Skagway, AK. I have to say the F-150 performed beautifully. The trailer was quite loaded up and even had over a half tank of water in it. Truck never struggled at all. Was good to know as every trip out of Yukon to southern destinations will mean a lot of mountain driving.

We camped in an RV park with full facilities, but we decided to have showers in the trailer -- just so we could see if we had any water leaking over the side of the tub. But we didn't.

Everything in trailer worked perfectly, except for the air conditioning. While the fan works fine, it isn't cooling the air at all. Not sure what the problem is, but it'll be warranty work I suppose. If anyone has any ideas of what it might be, I'd appreciate hearing them.

Our Golden Retriever has never been camping and he did fantastic. This guy virtually never barks and he was every bit the gentleman at the campsite. He was fine to leave in the trailer, but it was quite hot yesterday and once we realized the AC wasn't working properly, we couldn't leave him in there anymore.

It's pretty cool to lay back, throw in a DVD and veg out to a movie at the end of each evening! Very relaxing.

All in all, first trip was a great success. Can't wait to use it more this summer. Here are a few pics. The one of the motorhome isn't our unit, of course, but the view was so nice of the mountain in the Skagway harbour that I figured I'd share.

AC Fix

On the walk through of my new trailer my AC was not cooling either. A quick look from the Tech. and he saw incorrect hook up of wiring...5 mins. and we were in business. Hopefully the same for you.

Congrats! We bought a new Jayflight this year too (25RKS) and booked our maiden voyage last night. Good to have a date on the calendar to focus on finishing the stuff that is truly necessary before we head out. Been busy with mods to the TV mounts, battery, sewage hose, etc.

Would love to get out to Alaska some time - such views. Your pooch is very lucky too!!!

Happy Camping!

Sounds like you had a great maiden voyage! I bet not many can say their first trip was Alaska.
