Outside Barbeque - no gas

I have a 2017 Jayfeather 21QB - used it 28 days last year. The last trip out, I couldn't get gas to the tail mounted barbeque. The barbeque checks out okay. I can't see any issue with the line coming from the heater. All other gas appliances are working fine. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I don't own a rear BBQ but I do have the gas line and connection for one on my Jay Flight SLX. I imagine you already checked this but... the female quick connect adaptor that you plug your BBQ's gas line into might have a shut off valve. Mine does.

Also, the first time I used my outdoor kitchen, I had to leave the burner on for a minute or so to clear the air from the line. Just a couple of ideas.

Hi Cowboy Coffee, It does have a shut off valve, and I have it open. I've also left it running for a while, but I can try that again. Thanks

We were looking at our new 21QB will it was sitting in the dealer lot and the rubber line was pulled so tight where it connected to the main line that it had a kink in it.

If your barbecue has a regulator on it it will not work with that connection. That connection is already low pressure due to the camper's regulator at the bottles. That connection is for an unregulated barbecue.

I had an issue on our last camper with road dust getting into the female connection and plugging it. I had to use a long wire to loosen it up and blow it out then worked fine. Found out that we were missing the rubber cover over the female cap and so I made a cover and never had another issue.

Good, then you need to verify low pressure propane at the quick disconnect.

Just curious, do you have 1 propane bottle open or 2?

I had a similar issue with my cook top on my outside kitchen. It wouldn’t light. I knew I had gas so I thought maybe something was blocking the line. I opened both tanks and turned my cook top on full blast. Then it finally lit. Now all works while only 1 propane tank is open.

Maybe give it a shot...who knows

The quick release fitting that was mounted to my trailer had failed internally, when I would connect the bbq the male quick connect was not pushing on anything inside the fitting to release the propane, I stuck a small screwdriver in the fitting and got the propane to release. Ordered new fitting from Amazon. Trailer wasn’t even a year old at the time.

Hi Magnolia,

I only operate with 1 propane bottle open at a time.

Thanks! I'll definitely look into this.

I have a Jay Feather 25BH with outside kitchen. Was getting gas to my rear mounted barbeque at the back of trailer but not the 2 burner outside stove. Problem was the quick fit connector was stuck so I replaced and all is grand.
