Over microwave storage cabinet

There never seems to be enough storage in a kitchen. As noted by others, the space above the microwave is wasted. Opening the space up for storage is fairly simple but doing it in a way that looks nice can be a bit tricky. Below are a couple of photos of what I did. I knocked out the blank panel above the microwave and inserted a piece of luan on the bottom and left side. I cut a piece of 3/4” poplar for the cabinet front. I routed the edges with a wavy router. The cut isn’t a perfect match for the rest of the cabinets but it’s a reasonable match. I finished the luan and front panel to match the existing cabinets. Ravinte 6-inch cabinet pulls from Amazon are an exact match for the existing cabinet handles. The lift is a MroMax metal lid support, also from Amazon. I had the hinges from a previous project and don't remember where I got them.

Looks great! I've thought about doing something similar but just haven't pulled the trigger....

If you are handy as you obviously are, There are many wasted spaces in most rv's that can be made to order to make niche storage.

Good job!
