Owning in tornado country

Hello, I searched for relevant posts but found none. We are moving to Northwest Arkansas in 2 months. We will be buying a house with enough land to park our jay flight swift 264BH but I'm concerned about possible tornados. Is it a bad idea to have it parked on our property? Does anyone live in tornado prone areas that can offer some advice? Thank you.

We get them in southeast Missouri also. Just pray! Is not just a tornado, it's hail too. Good insurance will help. Check you policy.

Concur with silverark. Not much you can do with protection from tornados. I'm always more concerned about the hail which is more likely to happen than a tornado. So your best bet if you can find it is a covered storage shed for your TT.

I actually live in what's called "tornado alley". I keep my Jayco in a covered storage away from my house. If a tornado gets to my trailer, it will likely take it and the storage barn as well. Insure it and concentrate on your stick house. Hopefully you have a basement, cellar or a saferoom. Even an F-1 tornado will probably demolish your Jayco, no matter where it is parked.

We used to park our TT in the barn on my in-laws property back during the off-season. It was great protection until a tornado came along and dropped the barn on top of the TT. Smashed it pretty good. Insurance is the key!

No one really lives in an ideal area. If it's not tornados, its hurricanes, or it's dust, or what ever. While tornados are rare in my part of the state, we do get winds high enough to turn over travel trailers. Insure it, store where you want, enjoy it, and deal with weather damage if it happens.

Otherwise about the only thing that can hold up to a tornado is an underground bunker, and one for the TT might be a little expensive. In reality the odds of getting a direct hit is fairly low. I would be most concerned about hail damage

Thanks to all who have replied. I was initially wondering when I park the trailer on my property if I was going to be getting some grief from my new neighbors about how ignorant I am in regard to tornadoes. We currently live in Flagstaff Arizona and I don't want to be "that guy" when we move to Rogers Arkansas in June. Thanks again.

Tornado Alley here to! Last week I was praying because they were talking about tennis ball size hail! There were tornados also but all north of us. Luckily we missed the hail and the tornados here.

I have a new trailer and a new to me 2013 truck I just bought so I would have been really upset!

I am looking at buying a RV carport thing, it will at least help with the hail. In a tornado it will all be toast. You just never know.
