Portable stand for original RVQ grill?

Does anyone know of a stand that will accomodate the original RVQ grill. I'm not crazy about the side of the trailer mount on our 27BH. It doesn't allow the door to open all the way and be latched. I'm hoping to find something I can set the grill in on top of a portable table a little further away from the trailer?

Welcome to JOF.

Not intending to offend, but have you actually USED your RVQ before? It is probably one of the most quickly ejected accessories around. IMO, I would spend money on a decent portable grill that already has a stand rather than investing in a stand for these horrible generators of burnt offerings.

Point taken. I guess I never really thought it was that bad. Any suggestions on a good grill?

I cannibalized mine for parts and bought a Weber 1200.

The junk man didn't even want the RVQ.

I am big fan of the Coleman RoadTrip; on my second one now, but the first lasted 8 years. It does take up a bit of space though and is not a table top. We grill a lot and it has proven pretty versatile. I also have the griddle accessory for making breakfast.

Finally found a manufactured QC to Coleman hose from Torjik this summer so that you don't have to modify the grill if you want to use it with the low pressure RV system. Torjik used to make a kit for the DIY, but this is plug and play: Coleman® Roadtrip RV Quick-Connect Kit *GEN 2*-12 Ft. - propanegear (also see it on eBay from other vendors).

Personally, I have always just T'd off the tank before the regulator.

Here's what I did when we had an RVQ. Bought one of those collapsible aluminium tables from Walmart and a screen door guard. Had to cut and bend the screen door guard to shape around the RVQ hanging rack but it worked well. Brought the short LP hose to an LP place and they put on an extension. The whole thing still fit in the RVQ bag except the table.

Thanks guys. I was starting to think I didn’t have any easy options. Although buying a better grill would help I’d like to try a small fix first. When I get a chance ill check out my Cabelas camp kitchen table to see if a rail would be supported enough.

My first Jayco had one these grills and I got some good use out it. My 2008 Winnebago didn't have one so I bought a Coleman Roadtrip grill that I'm using to this day at home (gets used at least three times a week year round). Very nice, long lasting grill, cept it was really heavy to haul in and out of the RV. I'm now using the Jayco grill that came with my third MH. Works fine for us. I've used it many times for up to six people just using the hanger on the side of the RV. Not so great in the wind, but otherwise OK.

I still have my RVQ that I bought in 2002. Not the most powerful but good even cooking. I have a griddle that fits with the cover closed that I use for breakfast. I clean it good once a year and it still looks like new.

The stand that came with mine could be attached tor RVQ from the bottom instead of the back and it would sit on a picnic table.

The RVQ II may not have that option. Mine was the old one.

I still use the stand on my deck with a shelf I made for it to hold my Weber grill.

I used the OE black grill once. Then I got a stainless grill and it was better but the lid broke. I also didn't like grilling at the back of the fiver. I used a Coleman RoadTrip for two winters and relocated the QD gas to the stair well. I converted the RT to QD using Home Depot parts. The RT doesn't have a high enough lid for baking so this winter I'll be trying the Costco portable BBQ on an aluminum table with QD hose.

Yeah, not what you asked about though

Thanks for all the ideas. I tried attaching another side rail to my portable camp table and mounting the grill that way. Without some support it seemed too heavy. Ultimately at the end of last season I bought a 90 degree door latch. It keeps the door from swinging open all the way and I can keep using the grill mount on the side of the trailer. This works, at least until I try some other way.
