Power Jack Issue

My power jack (FIC 3500) will not go up, but it will go down. LED night light works. I used the manual wrench, it goes up with no restriction.

I inspected the switch, looks clean, all connections good. I was going to reverse the wires to see if it would go down but all the wire are soldered to the switch.

I assume its a bad switch, but before I take it apart I would like some feedback if anyone has had the same issue.

Thanks!

Did you have the power jack covered? Water doesn't mix with electrical. You can bypass the switch with some extra wiring and connect the motor directly to the battery and reverse for up and down. That way you can isolate if the switch as problem.

And the switch with an actual number.

You're most welcome Meeker. If you buy two, you'll never need the second one. Ever...

My led would also work but not the motor. I finally traced it down to no ground. The bolts holding to the frame just were not grounding fully. The LED uses a tiny bit of power but when I hit the switch not enough. I finally ran a dedicated ground wire from a cleaned off spot on my jack base to the battery. Never had a problem since!
Jump over the switch if you can. If it runs it is the switch, if not check the ground and the positive wire.

The problem I had with mine is that the battery contacts were corroded enough that not enough amps were getting through for the motor. The light was working, though. Some emery cloth to clean up the contacts and battery posts solved the problem.

Roger and North, thanks for your feedback.

My battery terminals are clean as a whistle. I did check the ground bolted to the frame, a little corrosion, I cleaned it and reconnected, still no luck in going up. Motor works going down. I ordered a new switch thanks to JFlightRisk's help. I will let you know if that solves the problem.

"I love you guys!"

While not totally connected but related. Folks should check the inline fuse regularly. The holder isn't really even water resistant. I ended up replacing mine with one from a boat store. The spring had badly rusted and only enough power for the LED light got through.
Just one more thing to check.
