Product Reccomendation - Towing Mirrors

I am looking for a recommendation on good towing mirrors to attach to my 2009 GMC Sierra SLE.

I am travelling 12 hours and would like to see more of the road behind me. There are so many products and so many reviews.

I installed the oem gm tow mirrors on my truck. They are plug and play.My stock mirrors were power adjusting(not power fold) and heated. The gm accessory tow mirrors kept those options but also gave me turn signals in the mirrors.I can see 100% better when towing or not.

you can probably get a good deal on the OEM mirrors from your local wrecking yard. that would most likely be your best bet. no sense buying "clip-ons or slide-ons" that will give you a shakey rear view.

A junk yard is a good place to start looking. O But if not available, try 1A auto on the web. Its w here I got mine for my suburban. Free shipping and prices are always reasonable. Cheaper than Amazon. I tried the clip ons and they just shake too much. If you want to See more of what's behind you, look into a camera system. I installed one of those as well and I LOVE it.

I bought aftermarket and to this point I'm very happy with them. Paid around $200 heated and mirrors adjust. No turn signals and the move in and out manually.

I agree with most of the posts above. Get the OEM mirrors
From the dealer which could set you back $450-$499
From the Junkyard which would be hundreds less.

Or the mirrors from Amazon. Paid $169.00 for my 2010 model year (misquoted $$ in another post). Spent less than 2 hours installing them and they performed well, including all winter with heat and adjustments. They give you much better views of what is behind and to the side. Sold the GMC after a year with the mirrors so I cannot give long term info.

I swapped the oem tow mirrors onto our '10 Silverado, and when we traded it in put the standard mirrors back on (glad I kept them!). Then mounted the tow mirrors on the new 2500HD which had the standard mirrors.

BEST ADVICE I can give, go slow and if possible have help. Because dropping a nut into the door is a PAIN!!!! Lol

As mentioned, unless you have power folding mirrors, the tow mirrors should be plug asnd play. Just make sure to order the correct set as there was a kit for the power fold also.

Don't know if you made a decision or not, but we purchased some CIPA 10800, add-on mirrors for our '06 Sierra 1500HD SLE and I'm very happy with them. They may not show quite as much as some mirrors, they also only cost $41.23 from Amazon, and show plenty of additional area behind and beside my truck.

Amazon.com: CIPA 10800 Chevrolet/GMC Custom Pair Towing Mirrors: Automotive

They go on and come off very easy and there is no vibration when I'm driving. So definitely worth looking at. Amazon offers great return options if you decide you don't like them too.

Check out LMCtruck.com I am not a big fan of those clip on style mirrors...

Our vehicle does not have towing mirrors available so we have these:
http://www.amazon.com/CIPA-11950-Uni...towing+mirrors

We added some of those stick on mirrors to both the vehicle's mirrors and the towing mirrors for an even better view.

Just installed these mirrors yesterday on my 2010 GMC Sierra 1500 Extended Cab: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ilpage_o00_s00. Found these very nice instructions (with pictures!): Tow Mirror Install - How-To - GM-Trucks.com. Took about an hour to do the first side and less than 40 minutes. Retained my factory power adjuster and heat. My truck has RPO code DL8 which would have allowed me to add turn signal as well had I seen the need or wanted to justify the additional expense. Couldn't be happier with the end result.

I had the CIPA slip-ons on my old Silverado and they worked well and didn't shake much but the mirror was a bit small. For their price, the CIPAs were a good buy and a descent temporary solution.

I have the full head Ksource mirrors on my 2500HD the PO installed and I love them.... no forgetting the slip-on mirrors or dealing with the wedges. KSource seemed to be the premium import aftermarket brand for tow mirrors but the Chinese and Taiwan don't seem to have any problems with stealing others designs and there now seems to be a flood of the OEM style mirrors and at good prices. If your budget permits, I'd opt for the OEM style towing mirrors. I'd bet those mirrors SparkDr bought are good quality and about the same as you would pay for used OEM mirrors.

I bought the slip on towing mirror from Walmart. Quick adjustments and it works in a pinch but does shake. I plan on getting the OEM for my truck but I was in need of something sooner rather than later. I could see around my trailer just fine. My gripe is that it was driver's side only, a few times it was turn signal and hope that no one was too close to me on the passenger side.

I helped a buddy install a new brake controller last weekend. At the same time, he added some slip on mirrors with the wedges, so it gave me a chance to decide in advance what they might be like for my application. After seeing the wedge setup in place, I quickly decided to bite the bullet and get some real towing mirrors for my own rig.

I bought after market from truckchamp.com

Easy to install and much better than clip on towing mirrors.

You could look up west coast mirrors. All I used in the old days, till I got the super duty, not pretty but inexpensive & very functional.

I picked up some K Sourcefor my F150 from etrailer.com. I have no complaints. They fit well, install in seconds, and are easily removed. Much cheaper in my case than OEM or aftermarket tow mirrors.

When I replaced my original non-tow mirrors I did not get the turn chevron in the mirror. I absolutely hate that. When you are turning with the turn signal on especially at night you can not see behind you since that blinking chevron blinds you. Or me anyway.
