pump hum normal?

We have had our new TT out several times this year and always used city water but I finally used the pump to winterized last week. I returned to the TT tonight, hooked up the battery and was checking out some LED panels I bought when I noticed a quiet hum. I opened the sink drawers and noticed it was the pump humming and found I left the pump switch on last week. I checked all the faucets and outside shower head but didn't notice any anti-freeze. Did I overlook anything or does the pump sometime just hum without pumping?

The pump should not make any noise after it reaches pressure, if it is still running it either is airbound or there is a leak somewhere or a pump malfunction. Did the pump run dry for several days when you left the switch on?

I took the battery out when I left it last week and hooked it back up tonight for a bit, so it wasn't running long. I noticed I left the valve open for the winterizing pick-up tube...hopefully the pump was just airlocked.

Yeah if they are getting air they will continue to run until the cows come home or the pump tears up. They only stop running when the pressure rises to the appropriate level in the plumbing system. Leaving the pick up tube valve open will for sure allow air into the pump.
