Pump pickup hose

Having a problem with my fresh water pick up line from the fresh water tank to the pump. Once the pump shuts off and I open a faucet in a few seconds the pick up line begins to collapse and the water goes down to a trickle. I have never had this happen before. Also I can see an air bubble in the front of the pump where the strainer is. I have cleaned and checked and tightened ever possible line to the pump that I can find. I have also traced every line down and there are no breaks, leaks or pinched lines. I even hook the RV up to city water and ran every line to get out all of the air but still the pump pickup line is still collapsing. And yes the fresh water tank is full. Hope someone one can help before I take it to a dealer.

It seems like I saw a video on YouTube about this resulting from not cleaning the filters, etc? Naturally I can't find it now but that may be something you might want to check into?

Sounds like a vent issue to me. I would check to make sure all vents are free of any obstruction. Also check to be sure the winterization valve is fully in the closed position.

Do what Marcm157 said first if not successful I think the pick up line is plugged ( from the FW tank)because when the pump calls for water it can't pull it thru so it's collapsing the line. I would disconnect the line at the pump and blow air thru the line going back to the FW tank.

If you open the fresh water tank drain does the water flow out onto the ground OK?

yes it does and even the over flow line are running when the tank gets full I have a 90 gal fresh water tank and have filled and refilled it three time and all the drains and overflow valves are working fine. Also when I fill it air is coming out of the vent hole like it should. I just put some more air into the suction line and can hear the water in the tank as the air is applied. I then filled the tank suction line with water before I reconnected it to the pump to help prime it and still not water is being sucked out of the tank the pump just keeps running to no avail.

Ok, so the problem has to be in the lines on the outflow side of the water pump. Perhaps a by pass or shut off valve has failed. Turn on your outside shower so you can see if something changes and start playing with every valve you can get your hands on. Good luck.

If you have a power fill, check and see if it is set to tank, if it is you're sucking in air. Set it to city.
