Question about leaving slide out while in storage

My 31BHS is on a permanent site and I would like some opinions on whether to put it in winter storage with slide open or closed. The only reason I hesitate closing it is that it has been open all season so I know the seal is good, no leaks and no critters got in. I bought it during last winter and had signs that mice had gotten in, no infestation just droppings. Facts or opinions appreciated.

Good question. We frequently camp late in the season at a KOA and I have seen some of the seasonals with the slide out, now keep in mind they also have enclosed the bottom of the TT with panels so if they closed the slide they would disturb the panels.

Leave the slide closed during storage.

I was at the factory this past summer and someone came in and asked whether to leave the slide in or out during storage and was told to leave it closed.

Close it Close it Close it... its not good for the box to sit out like that for that period of time.. also less chance of someone at the storage place hitting it and knocking it out of alignment.

What if you are just going to your trailer on weekend? Should you close it while you are away?

When you close the slide for winter storage rub some baby powder on the seals first. This will keep them from sticking together and tearing with you open the slide next use. Never leave slides open for prolonged periods the seals will dry out.
