Radio antenna mast

I purchased a cover for my X23B. While examining the radio antenna, I noticed there is no set screw to remove the antenna. It is on a spring. Is it safe to lay the antenna down when installing the cover?

Yeah, that's what I do and it hasn't hurt anything.

There's a Philips screw on the side. Loosen it and allow the mast + spring to lay on the roof.

Like Mike said there is a screw. I took mine off last night. When I put the ladder beside the camper, the screw was on the opposite side of where I was.

Then I must consider myself lucky! The screw on my TT faces the place where you have to put the ladder.

My radio antenna was always in the way of my TV antenna so I loosened the screw and laid it on it's side a long time ago. We never use the Radio now that I installed a dock for my Onyx XM receiver anyway.

Yes sir you are lucky. It's not bad reaching around to get to the screw but it'd have been nice to not have to...

I mounted the docking station in the entertainment unit (which on the 28RLS backs up to the bathroom), then I drilled a hole up from the entertainment unit into the ceiling. I fished the antenna cable thru the roof from the Bathroom ceiling vent to the entertainment unit and stuck the antenna up in the bathroom vent. It was the car mount antenna and it's magnetic so it sticks to the metal frame of the vent. I left some extra wire at the vent end so if it's being really finicky I can put it out the top of the vent and move it around up on the roof till I get a good signal.

No problem, then. Just undo the 3 self-tapping screws holding the base to the roof. Rotate the antenna 180* and screw it back down.

No big deal. AmIright?

Oh, that "roof leak" thing.... Uh, yeah.

So...now I've been thinkin' (you knew this might happen) about this whole dilemma, and it seems to me that if you only rotated it 120*, you could use the same three screw holes, eliminating about 50% of the leak thing. Now, the next question is, if the OP is left handed, he could turn the antenna counterclockwise. Or right handed, clockwise, putting said screw at the most convenient orientation. They shoulda used four screw holes, and then I woulda kept quiet!

Great minds think alike!

I considered 120 rotation. But I figured 180 was less rational and therefore funnier.

Of course I'm right. I may have my faults, but being wrong isn't one of them.

Oh, excuse me. I was wrong once. I thought I made a mistake. But I was wrong.
