radio display still illuminated when trailer is on battery
My radio display is still illuminated while on battery. Won't this kill the battery if left this way? Thinking about cutting the power wire and putting in an auxiliary push button switch so I can totally isolate it. Hate to leave it set a month only to find the battery dead. Anyone else's bunkhouse 267 radio hard wired with no way of powering it down?

I believe most radios are wired this way in trailers. I put in a switch like you mentioned. But this is not the only phantom draw. The propane/co2/smoke detectors will also draw down a battery in a period of time. Your best bet is to put a quick disconnect on the + battery terminal so all power ceases to flow.

I disconnect the battery and put it on my battery tender when not in use...problem solved, and helps prolong battery life.

radio display still illuminated when trailer is on battery
Agreed that most trailers are like this.
Either install a cutoff or remove the battery when not in use.
I do the later to prevent battery theft at storage.

I did the same here but sort of for a different reason... My JENSEN radio has two 12VDC power connections - One goes to 12VDC through an in-line fuse and the other other connection is suppose to go to the ignition key when used in a car/truck setup. Both of these two connections were wired together to 12VDC in my trailer.
On my setup if I removed all of the 12VDC going to the radio and the ignition lead I would lose all of the presets and everytime I turned it all back on I had to find my favorite station and also do all of the other setup things again I liked to do like fade between inside/outside speakers etc...
To solve this problem I added a RADIO SHACK panel Lever thumb switch and connected this to the IGNITION wire. Now if leave the radio MAIN ON-OFF in the ON position I can operate the extra ON=OFF for the ignition wire (Just like turning on the radio in the car/truck by using the ignition key) and this will keep all of my preset setting. Of course if I ever turn off the radio by the MAIN ON-OFF I kill everything again including presets.
I installed this switch to the right of my JENSEN RADIO shown in this photo.
My trailer setup has a BATTERY SELECTOR and DISCONNECT switch which kills all 12VDC feeding the trailer when I need to do that...

My trailer (24FBS) has a 30 amp fuse at the battery box, I just pull the fuse and set it on the
kitchen counter. Since we travel a lot per-sets are not important.

I believe that if you have 2 leads for power, 1of the leads connects to the 12vdc to keep only the selected radio station memory alive. If you do not care about storing stations in memory, disconnect it. Less of a battery drain.

If you're willing to part with a few $$$, buy a solar battery charger and install it. In the end, this could be a lot simpler than installing switches and you won't lose the settings/time on your radio. Also, if your battery becomes too weak, your propane detector will begin to "chirp" periodically- just like smoke alarms do when their battery needs replaced. Many refrigerators will refuse to start (even on propane) when the battery voltage drops below a certain point and you're not running on shore power.

I just pull out the inline fuse that is located near the battery, I suppose not all trailers will have this fuse in this location.

On my 2013 26bh pulling the fuse doesn't do anything. I have to disconnect the battery to stop those drains.

This should be a concern.. there should be only one MAIN lead back to the battery controller from the battery. When that main inline fuse is pulled there should be NO 12vdc power to the trailer at all. The only item that will have 12vdc power is the break away switch for the breaks. How many wires do you have connected to the batteries positive terminal? Something to check into..

Once I get some time, I will be checking the phantom power draws and try to figure out what is pulling what and how many milliamps. This summer while boondocking my DW told me to put a switch on the radio, because of the blue light and to preserve the battery.

On my 154 BH I push the radio's power button for a "3 count" and the screen goes blank. Is the radio still drawing power then?

If the radio's clock is still keeping the correct time, I would have to say yes.

Bright radio screen even when it's turned "off"
I thought I would revive this thread. I'm having the same issue but with a different concern. I am not worried about battery draw. What bugs me is the screen is so dang bright. When we are sleeping I want the battery connected to power the smoke / CO alarms. I just don't want the screen to be illuminated. We have been taping a paper plate over the screen. I'd rather just turn the screen off.
Any tips?
FYI this is the radio in a 2014 x17z

DW had the same issue with light at night. The radio is in the media center under the Tv, so before bed I double up the kitchen towel and hang it over the display. I was going to put a disconnect switch in next to the radio, except all the preset stations would not be saved.
Towel works great
