Rain leaking through entry door under the window

Anyone else? Alot of water coming out. How much of that is inside the door? How will it ever dry out? I'm guessing I need to caulk around the window or better yet re do the butyl tape then caulk it. But still what about the water in the door smh. When I first got the thing I thought it had a weird smell every time I walked in but then i wouldnt smell it anymore. And i would try tonfollow with my nose but it was no where. I'm starting to think this had probably happened many time before since I bought it used. Door is probably all moldy inside.these things run around like 700$ I think

Hi. We replaced our entry door window (lippert door/window) with a Lippert Thin Shade. It's a complete kit with tinted window, presealed frame, and shade you can open/close. Ours wasn't leaking BUT there isn't much sealant on the inside of the frame. I also applied all weather clear silicone around the outside of our new one.

You may consider removing and replacing or removing and resealing then silicone around the outside edge.

Good luck

We had a little water leaking around the entry door window. I removed the window (screws around the inside frame), cleaned everything and reassembled with butyl tape. Over time some additional butyl has oozed out and I remove it with a plastic scraper/knife. No more leaks. If you get some dry weather I’d remove the window and let the door air out a few days (or as long as you can) before sealing it up.
I suggest you NOT use silicone sealer. When it needs a touch-up more silicone won’t adhere to the old.

X2

Pull the window and properly reseal. Do not use silicone. Butyl is the correct choice here. I do have a tendency on windows and doors, to leave a unsealed gap on the bottom so any liquid moisture that does get in, has a place to escape.

Check the underside of the door. There is a good chance there are some weep holes to allow moisture out.

correct, use butyl for the seal on the inside of the frame. The windows from the factory have only a small bead of butyl sealant on the inside and one small bead on the outside. I used Silicone for the outer edge where the door frame meets the door. The silicone is a precautionary overkill but can easily be removed if the window needs to be removed again.

I will be replacing the frame around the window. When I went out this morning the bottom of the frame had a big crack. Waiting for new ones to arrive. It been a really dry seasoning since I've owned it so this was the first time I've seen it leak in. I taped it up with a garbage bag for now. Thanks guys

Fixed it just in time for the elsa storm. Had to put butyl tape around edge to door and glass to frame. I'm going to put some proflex over the top too
