I've never owned a Ram 1500 anything....but I currently own a 2014 Ram 2500 SLT with the Cummins engine..I've owned multiple trucks (Ford Powerstroke 6.4 / Chevy 2500 with a 6.0), pull equipment regularly. I've never owned a stronger vehicle; if your going to spend money...opt for the Cummins without a doubt.

Ram 2500 hands down. The 5 link rear end and the chassis are awesome!
