Real world Jeep V8 mileage

I am seriously looking to upgrade from the V6 3.6 liter in my 14 Jeep Grand to an 18 or 19 with the V8 5.7L. Has anyone any experience in the mileage difference between these two engines? I have seen a low of 9.5 to 15 depending on speeds, wind, and mountains with the 3.6. I know the V8 uses more gas day to day but maybe not bad during towing.

The 3.6 does the job fine but a little more for passing, merging and mountains would be nice.

We towed our 195RB for 5 years with a RAM 1500 with the 5.7L v8 and the 3.21 gears. One trip we did frequently was from Seattle to Kanab, UT. There was a good mix of mountain passes and flats and overall the 5.7L would turn in an average of around 10.5-11 for that trip. With a good tail wind on the flat we could see upwards of 14+ - a stiff headwind could take it down in the low 8's. Unloaded around town I would see ~13.5-14 and empty highway I hit 19.7 one time. In my opinion the better towing experience would be worth the potential trade-off of slightly less mpg.

Speed and wind will be the dominant factors with your mileage no matter what size engine you have.
