Rear entry steps become wet from rain.

The awning on my 2011 298RLS only extends approximately six inches past my rear door, (from the front to the back of the unit). With almost any rain, even with the awning extended, the rain comes in under the awning and the rear steps become wet.
Does anyone have any idea of a product on the market or something that could be fabricated to keep the steps dry?
I would attach a picture but the trailer is at the campground and I'm home.

Thanks so much!

Spend $10.00 or so in Lowes and buy a 10ft section of clear carpet liner. I am assuming you have carpeted steps. I have them inside my camper to keep my carpets clean and they work wonders in doing so.
