Rear view cameras

2019 Jayco 28RBH
Any recommendations on a wireless rear view camera for above travel trailer?
Thanks much!

Admittedly, this is low budget and not the highest tech back up camera solution, but, it does work. I was skeptical......mounted it below the middle clearance light at the rear of the trailer, tapped into the marker light power and ground wires and mounted the camera with 3M trim tape. Stuffed the wires into the marker light hole. Dowloaded the Android camera app, turned on the parking lights, and it actually worked! A couple of caveats: wifi connection times are erratic, but it always connects, and, images buffer from time to time. Distance from camera to phone (actually, I use a 10" tablet) is 50'. Higher cost cameras with an external antenna would probably connect faster and give smoother video. But, for 25 bucks, it works for me, periodic look-see to the rear and backing up.

I have a Furrion "observation" camera set up. A bit pricey but it is plug & play if your unit is prewired. Works while on the road so I can the maroons behind me and that tree or stump at the back of the spot at the CG.

That’s awesome.. pretty much what I’m looking for b/c the unit is prewired. How big of a screen/monitor do you use?

My 28RL came pre-wired Furrion. On the cover plate was the part number for the wired version and the wireless version. Obviously the wireless version was a no-brainer. Plug and play, and wireless signal has never been an issue despite my trailer being 33.5’ long. Turn on the running lights and the screen lights up.

Down side: Screen is a little too small. Screen resolution leaves something to be desired. Since I only turn it on for the last few feet when backing into a camp site, it serves the purpose.

If I wanted the camera for looking behind my rig while towing DO NOT get the Furrion. Much better quality and screen size can be purchased and likely at the same or lower price. If I had purchased this Furrion for this purpose I would be disappointed.

Thank you Scott, I appreciate the info.

I have not yet even looked at the mounting point but when I do I’ll take your advice.

I believe the monitor on mine is 3x5" or 4x6" which is sufficient for me, resolution is "ok", it's not HD by any means. I don't stare at mine, just glance at it when needed. You should treat the camera as an "aid" to help monitor your surroundings.

I went with the Haloview MC7108. Wasn't easy to mount, even though I had the Furrion bracket pre-installed. Regardless of the brand, I'd recommend getting an extended antennae if you're going to use it while driving down the road. Mine can get a bit choppy using the antennas that came with it.

here is what i bought. works beyond exceptions. I believe the range listed is 100ft but i tested it i got well beyond 300ft.
Comes with furrion bracket to mount on the pre-wired adapters. Can also be used as a security camera when parked.

I bought this for my jayco 222 superlite and I just bought a cheap backup camera, I downloaded the app on my tablet and phone and its basically a rearview mirror while pulling, I let it run the whole time while I'm driving.
now, I have ran this on my iPhone with very little freezing. it runs on my iPad with very little freezing but when I ran it on my nexus (android) it lags and freezes and usually won't calm back on until I reboot.
if you guys won't pics or I can do a walk around video on my install. I put this in last summer, so no live feed of the install.

You can add a second camera to the system and have the other one on the back of the tow vehicle to help with hitching up as well.. I have had mine for 5 years now

X3. If you opt for the Furrion, keep the plate you're gonna take off. That way when you trade your rv in, you can remove the camera and put the plate back on and use the camera on your new RV or sell it.

Rearview Camera

I’ve used Rear View Safety for two Jayco tt. They supply Furrion with Cameras. Customer service is the best....

I use a Haloview on my truck to back into my utility trailer and I have another mounted to watch the contents of the trailer. When I don't have the trailer on it makes a great mirror replacement, since I have a cap on it isn't easy to see directly behind the truck.
I haven't tried it on my TT yet but I've had the camera 35 feet from the monitor and it worked great.

If you have not purchased Furrion, I have one hardly used....info follows.....
Looks like this Model FOS43TASF has replaced the Model FOS48TAPK-B I have.

I have included link for the new model at E Trailer https://www.etrailer.com/RV-Camera/F...FOS43TASF.html
which sells for $387.10 plus tax

I have mounting bracket with it. It worked well for me and I had no issues with the resolution. My main concern was to see what was behind me when traveling.
After seeing that mine is discontinued model I would sell for price to $125.00. if you pay shipping. The differences are most notably in a motion detection sensor and the resolution on the screen as well as the transmission distance of up to 492 feet
