Recommended Battery Charger for Deep Cycle Group27

Hi,

I am told that Deep Cycle batteries have a different charging need than general automotive batteries and for that reason; should be looking for a battery charger designed to handle deep cycle charging. Supposedly, many automotive chargers are not designed for deep cycle and will not be able to (truly) fully charge the battery and cause premature sulfation.

Wondering if someone with experience can recommend some battery chargers. I prefer to have one that is plug-and-go and can be left on charge indefinitely through the winter months.

Thanks

I use the G7200 genius smart charger. Has a mode for wet cell and agm and for desulphation. And a few other modes. I keep the charger on the batteries and if will act like a battery tender.

I was told always to use one that is over 5amps, anything smaller won't get a deep cycle battery to full charge. I have 2 --27 interstates in my boat and used the same 10 amp charger for 7 years on them.

Thanks for the advice folks. I picked up the Genius 7200 from Canadian Tire as recommended by brianca2 and ensured it was at least 5 amps as suggested by KodiakAttack.

Thanks Folks.
