not sure why you would want to pay for it to run it when you do not need to unless your power is free and you use it often.

In last TT, only turned it on, then off, when we used the TT. 7 years, never had a problem. Just remember to prop the doors open when in storage so it doesn't mildew

If fridge doesn't have built in "props" you can purchase plastic thingies that clip in the handles

I am on/off unless the trips are less than 2 weeks apart because it's a wash and less cleanup involved. You definitely want to pre-chill at least 24-36 hrs prior to departure to get the best performance. My previous units would be food ready within 12 hrs.
I would unload when we got home and then turn it off and allow for defrost with the doors wide open then go in and wipe down with Fantastic and prop open to prevent mildew.
Also make sure your unit is switching to gas properly before departure. I once had an airlock situation that I did not discover until I got to the CG. Thank goodness the CG was only 2 hrs away. Now I make a practice of checking that my gas light goes green before we pull out after disconnecting the shore power.

I leave mine on from April to Sept. No problems. Just need to make sure the trailer is level.

When not in use (rarely) I turn mine off gives me a chance to clean and defrost it.

Mine is on as soon as I pull it out of storage in April or early May and shut it off after Columbus weekend in October. Our parking spot is quite level.

Newbie question, so I pre-chill the frig for about 24 hrs before leaving. So do you let it run on gas while towing? I have read how important it is to be level. It would seem if you are going up and down hills while towing, that would be bad?
Thanks

Thanks Threebutchers, excellent answer, including the technical WHY. I'm the kind that really enjoys knowing the why behind the rules.

Thanks for the replies. Where I store the trailer I have free power. I want to double check the area and make sure it is level. We plan on doing a little more camping this season. Going to leave more items in the trailer between trips.

Factory specs call for +-3 deg. Front to back ( OF TRAILER) +-5 deg. aside to side ( OF TRAILER ). With the level being placed in the freezer bottom. Remember you should only have to do this once because this is how you level the trailer for set-up levels that you fasten to the out side of the unit.

New to RVing having just bought a new White Hawk 30DSQB....haven't had the opportunity to try it out yet but have been checking everything out as it sits on the drive. Fired up the refrig today first on LP....worked great and cooled down very quick...lowered the setting on coldness and switched to 120...still does great...question I have...when you feel of the outside of the doors(both refrigerator and freezer) they are extremely cold....is this normal for RV refrigerators???...certainly do not appear to have much insulation in them.

I don't recall the face of my Dometic being COLD. Try putting a bottle of water inside to see if it freezes. May be too cold.
