Remove Bunks and Build Office/Closet

Looking at a 264hb at a decent price. I do not need the large bunk beds and thinking of removing them to make room for a hanging rod and a small desk. Anyone tried this?

This is as far as I got... 2AM a rough sketch of the proposed bunk bed/desk area. I was going to put channels on each side and have the bunk beds slide up and down in the channels along with the desk top.

- The desk top would lower to the floor, when not in use.
- The 2 bunks would be raised to the top of the slides when not in use.
- Once the bunks are raised the desk top could be brought up to a desired height.
- Sleeping time would allow for the desk top to be lowered to the floor and one or both bunks to be lowered.

I was thinking of motorizing the setup.. but weight would have been an issue.

Daughter had twins so not the bunks stay as is. Project moved to the bottom of the honey do list.

Good luck with your project.

Our "bunkhouse" has no 'beds' in it anymore. We use that area for our hobbies and extra storage. THe middle 'bunk' was a perfect height for a workbench so we left the platforms in place. Sorry for the dim light.
